I have tried to find out where to setthe filter for tracks so I can get longer distances before it fills the log but can't work out where to do it. It says in the help to click on the box at the bottom right hand corner of the Track tab but I don't have a box there:nenau

I've looked on the GPS unit itself but cant fathom out where to set it.... any tips please:o

many thanks

The most you can gets about 140 miles bit of a let down,I'm sure there's some other threads on here about it.
I usually use mine for recording offroad runs then upload to mapsource and view the tracks in google earth .

The only option you have on the 2610 is to turn it on or off I seem to remember. On the more dedicated GPS units (the streetpilot range being more road oriented) you can do so much more with the track facility including increasing/reducing the 'breadcrumbs', tracking back up an existing track and saving the track as a route.

IIRC it's more than 140 miles. I recently took it to London and back (approx 400 mile round trip) and it tracked about 75% of the route. I've still got the track log on the home computer if you need it checked. :thumb2

Was that on the M4? - on straight bits it increases the distance between "crumbs" - try again and keep moving across the 3 lanes :)

0520 hrs:eek: Are you on nightshift!!!!!!

That all sounds a bit technical to me but I like the sound of it, i'll perservere a bit longer and may even read the manual if it carries on raining:o

If you open mapsource and the file with the routes / waypoints / tracks and choose"view", near the bottom of the drop down list is "view in google earth". Very usefull for checking locations especially in remote areas like north of the border :)

I've just tried that too but the view in google earth is greyed out:o I must be doing something wrong:confused:

Yes, I was in the car and either on the M4 or M25 virtually all the way. It's probably best to go by the time the 2610 records rather than the distance, because obviously distances will vary depending on the quality of the road.

Having just checked the Tracklog, the unit recorded 6hrs 13 mins of travel - using 2,047 points. :thumb2
