Question to all guru's. What's general mileage for shakedown after complete rebuild , getting bike ready for trip to alps in August, so far put up 700 miles , some small oil leaks and tuning , other wise looks promising. Is there general rule to iron out faults?
Val
Ah yeah bike 97 R1100RT 60000ml
Job done all new bearings and seals

Ah just going through this myself

Have done 2000miles since launch date and have replaced the following:

Pinion bearings (new grease nipple mod)
Rear final drive bearing and seals (new outer ring seal as well)
New O rings in the throttle Bodies after sucking in air before tune
Head stock wiring checked fixed and re sealed after neutral light fault.
Front calipers seals and pistons replaced after binding on slightly ( new Bleed nipples)

That just the things that have gone wrong, so my theory is that come france on the 29th I should be ok for major issues

Good luck with trip

Dusty

Sounds like you've done the shake down already! Not sure what kind of riding you've done but a combination of some motorway work and then horrible stop start getting it hot in town. If it behaves after all that then I'd have thought you'd sorted it :-)

Cheers for replays .
Yeah mileage ... I use bike every day short commuting to work ( dueler and town ) 6 ml ish each way.
I replace bearings in gearbox, final drive and swing arm , change oil after 600 miles and looks clear.🙅
Only bother is rattle right brake pads and clutch ( yeah clutch on take off if pull back for some smoothness or whatever reason it's rattling for sec , like loose diagram ) but nothing else.
So far there was leak from both head gaskets but retorque head and that sort problem .

From memory the first service when the 1150's were new was at 600miles / 1000km
you ahve done 700 miles and if you have been through checking everything that is on the first service check list and yourself looked at everything on the bike then you should be right

however, you know your bike and what you did to it

Thanks for replays , give me bit confidence in my work ha ha , done compression test today , 125psi on both cylinders , now I thought it should be more 150 Mark ? Could be tester cheap from fleebay ....

Someone will probably correct me, but I always understood the compression test was more interested in an equal measure for both sides rather than the actual reading itself (meaning yours reading sounds spot on :-)
