Lets start by saying a big hello to one and all I have literally just joined spent the weekend reading up on the said bike and thought lets launch myself in.

I've been riding the Thunderace for just over a year and although I love it, I cant seem to get comfortable over distances of over hour or so, my wrists are the first to suffer and then find myself aching...

Had a test ride on a GSA 1150 2004 today and blimey what a difference my Ace now feels silky smooth and quick, the GSA is 'vibey' with all sorts of engine type rattles? The gears select OK but seem to have an after 'cassette type' action when selecting. Loved the comfort and upright seating position, the bike felt very comfortable and flick-able. It's also the first shaft drive motorbike I've ridden and it seems and exact science, which will require some mastering to gain smooth changes and a positive effect through the back wheel??

Anyway first impressions and all that.... I'm really asking is this all in keeping with this type of bike /model and has anyone else had a similar first time experiences and did they go on to purchase one???

Thanks

Know how you feel, came from my Transalp to my GSA1150 and I cant see much in my mirrors at 80, the gears clunk and when I start it up Im sure there are noises and rattles that shouldnt be there, but someone told me "thats how they sound"
But I do love riding it:thumb2

1150GSA

Ditto, but i love my bike and put your earplugs in and just smile all day as you ride around, did 300miles sunday just didnt want to come home, you get used to the quirky bits real quick and iv never had a bike thats such a conversation starter, dont compare it to your riceburner,i left my kneesliding days behind when i bagged my gsa and i aint stopped smilin yet......

ermmmmmmm?

Its when it DOESNT clunk rattle and clank you need to be worrying, lol . Buy it anyway ,it cant be any worse than all of ours are ,lol.. At least it will save some faint hearted type from worrying ,lol..

Disconcerting things ,arent they? Everyone has likely had just the same feelings as you're having mate,, don't worry about it ,,you'll love it once you got the hang of it .. FWIW, i've got a hyabusa in the garage but it has never moved in anger since "the tank" came home ,lol..

My only wish is that you enjoy yours as much as i enjoy mine..

Chuck your leg over it and get the smile and ear to ear grin in place ....
( You can talk to it afterwards,, but that IS optional.)

Happy days

I have always been a Honda man and still am but I bought an 1150 GSA. It’s like climbing onto a tractor compared to a JAP machine but once you accept the rattles and strange noises from the bike I found that GSA is a fantastic machine it has taken me over most of Europe and I have taken the bike offroad with a pillion it’s a very reliable and sure footed machine. If the GSA 1150 was still be produced I would buy a new one,

I think a lot more would buy one if they still made them:bounce1garbo:bounce1

My bro doesn't call them Massey Fergusons for nothing :aidan

GS

Just buy it
Best bit of kit i have ever owned
I smile when i get on
ride
and get off
people want to chat where ever i stop
it's built to go fully loaded
Nowt else to say get it bought

"Praise the lord and pass the Ammunition"

Summed up nicely when I sat at the lights here in good ole Norwich. This bird and her fella are crossing infront of me she stops and say's to her guy now that is what I call a motorbike.Nuff said. I was going to ask her for a shag but the guy was much younger and fitter so thought beter not as the GS weighs a ton to pick. Buy the bugger you have to ride a 1000mls before it all starts to make sense.

Welcome to the site Old Boy :beerjug:

Don't worry about being chubby , you haven't met Watton yet :aidan

1150 Spec??

Could yo also let me know whether the the 1150 adventure came with heated grips and ABS as standard, as the one I had a test ride on did not have either???

Apparently the best of all 1150GSA'a is the
TARTS HANDBAG SE edition :thumb2
Luke Scot of this site has one for sale, but he's in Ireland so not worth it for a UK purchaser.....
It's the one in White primer with blue and grey seat, got all the toys and came with TKC's as standard

Heres one I collcted for a fellow on here last year...

Thanks chaps much appreciated, i'm going for it must be mad......anyway keep the encouragement coming feeling very excited and OMG!!!!!

I've done several moderately long trips this year (including almost 700km in one day) and I've never had a bike which was more comfortable for distance riding.
i frequently pass sports bikes on motorways with their riders hunched up against the wind blast and stopping at every services for a massage. I just stop for fuel (and thats a long was on a GSA:)). A blade might be faster over 100km, but a GS is faster over 1000km.

Crikey, I bet the GSA weighs more that Pug 205, the wheels look well pressed into the arches anyway.:D

GSA1150, you know you want it, just get one. :thumb
(although I havent got mine yet either, it's coming tomorrow! )

I'll have you know. that PUG has towed Bikes from Germany, Spain, Austria France and Italy.
Anything from a 50cc monkey bike to a Honda Valkyrie....:rob
Has also towed my 3 bike trailer with 2 K100LT's on board.
That was very close to the 750 kgs max unbraked weight:augie
It has also towed my twin axle, braked, box trailer@ 1300kgs without a problem..:thumb2
I always make sure NEVER to exceed the 65kg towball load, even carry an old set of bathroom scales to put under jockey wheel
The reason it's low down is >
A. It's got GTI suspension
B. I'm a fat bastard !!

Pug averages 44mpg towing that's why I keep using her :thumb2

LOL Proff,
If you need a new GTi rear axle beam when yours goes I have a 1.9 GTi one in my garage.:D

I used to own 6 205 GTi's (all at the same time)until a few years ago, rebuilt them & even built a group A rally car version.

I still think the 205 makes a great cheap runaround, much better than the newer pugs anyway.:thumb

OK chaps if we can stay focused just a little longer.........
It has 6k miles on her and I'm collecting her on Saturday apparently some BMW enthusiast test rode her and said its one of the better ones not vibey....
Well thats not the impression i got!!
