Shark Oxo flip over helmet

Used my Oxo for the first proper ride yesterday covering 210 miles around the Western Cape here in South Africa.
The Oxo was fabulous. MUCH better than the Evo that it replaced.
Comfortable , quieter and all works well. The Packtalk Edge I’ve fitted sounded fantastic too.
It’s a bit noisier than the Neotec 3 and not quite as plush but for half the price it’s a much better buy in my opinion and the flip over rather than flip up seals the deal.
Recommended.

very nice.....annoying as I also have just bought a Neotec 3 brand new never used and I also want one of these.....
Does the darker visor come as standard or do you need to swap it out? Also sent you a quick message on the comms.

Just released by Shark as an upgrade over the Evo GT

Bloody typical as just bought a Neotec 3.

Love the Shark Evo for its flip over feature-I used it on our Germany/Austria trip this year and I reckon I rode 90% of the time with it open. But Shark quality is not up there with the likes of Shoei. The Evo is certainly noisier, but sounds like the Oxo will be better.
I just wish Shoei would do a flip over.
I’ve had their flip ups ever since the Multitec and as good as it is, it’s just annoying to ride with the chin bar hanging above your head for extended periods as it catches the airflow and makes the helmet heavy .
Obviously the flip up is designed more for pulling into petrol stops or riding through a town, whereas you can ride all day in a flip over with it open.

Might have to go try on an Oxo at some point .

Mmm looks interesting. Agree re flip ups. Love them but extended periods are a no go really. Roof do or did a flip ups, but it wasn’t really up to much. Let us know how you get on if you do try one of these 👍 .

It comes with both clear and tinted visors, plus the drop
down sun visor and one pin lock.

Must have been half asleep. I think I read earlier that you said you would have to try one at some point. 🙄. Now I’ve made a complete nob of myself 😂

It’s ok . It’s required to be a complete knob on here if you are called Richard 😜

Hi all, i bought one exactly the same as Arseys and fitted the Sena for Shark intercom. Used it yesterday for about 5 hours and note it was comfy, relatively quiet and the flip is great when refueling, coming to lights etc. Highly recommended.

Hey guys, what is the visor like to move up and down ? I watched the legends video and he mentioned there being no ratchet positions on the visor. Will it stay half open ?
Has it been a problem ? The helmet looks good fair play.

no issue with the visor i ran mine open / fully closed / open c.10mm for ventilation on sunday. order one from sportsbikeshop and have a fiddle as you can send it back if concerned. i think it's great.

I tried an OXO on today in Sportsbikeshop. Very nice helmet but I didn’t buy. The large was too big, the medium painfully tight, but the nice assistant kindly swapped the cheek pads for thinner ones - taking them out a size XL - which made the medium a good enough fit. But then told me I’d have to buy the additional cheek pads, at….. wait for it…..£111. Or about 1/3rd the price of the helmet. Just for cheek pads. Err no thank you. Assistant did go away and ask if they could do them foc or significantly reduced but the computer said no. Shame I’d have bought it otherwise

I see Motolegends say 5 different liner and cheek sizes available with an implication that they are free to get the fit right. I can’t see the liners listed for mail order though. I might go back to SBS as I really liked the helmet.

Bloody hell. If it doesn't fit as standard I wouldn't buy to spend that amount on cheek pads. Will have to try 1 on in local bike shop and see

I’ve written to Nevis Marketing the uk distributor for shark helmets saying pricing cheek pads at £116 is unacceptable. As a safety item they should be foc at the time you buy a helmet or available for a nominal sum.

@ Arsey.

Any updates on how you are gotting on with the Shark OXO ?
Used it for a week in Gran Canaria and a few days in Cape Town.
No complaints at all. Much plusher than previous Evo .Better mechanism too. I’ve probably ridden with it more opened than closed.
Great helmet.

RESULT!

I got a phone call today from Nevis’s customer services manager who said retailers are supposed to be offering a full fitting service including swapping out cheeks at no additional charge at yhe time of purchase. He also recognised that £116 is a bit steep for replacement cheek pads but the target market for secondary sales of those was to people wanting to get their helmet back to fitting like a new one.

Anyway I called back into Sportsbikeshop at lunch time and got them to phone yhe fella at Nevis who confirmed it to them and is posting a pair of the size of cheek pad I need. Meanwhile SBS are getting the 3 of the size medium helmets into the Preston store in the colours I fancy. Fingers crossed that this is as good a helmet to wear as it is on the spec sheet and on my head for half an hour or so in the shop.

Hmmm, I’m wondering about quality control here now. I asked SBS to get a size medium in the Green/Gold colour and in the white/red/blue colour, plus the the thinner cheek pads. I much preferred the green/gold one but the visor didn’t fit properly and wouldn’t latch in the closed position, instead popping back onto its middle ratchet position. Also the hard lining where the “eyewear adjustment” thing is wasn’t sitting quite right, and the sun visor was so stiff it was useless. No other mediums in this colour anywhere it would seem. After much fettling and jiggling and poking by the SBS guys they couldn’t fix it. The white/blue/red colour didn’t do it for me even with an extra 5% off and all of a sudden the quality of Shark helmets started to look very shonky to me. They just didn’t have that quality feel my 7yo Shoei neotec1 still has, so I walked out not buying after about 2 hours of trying and feeling very disappointed.

I said I’d think about but I actually think I’m going to go back with a view to getting a Shoei Neotec3 to fit me properly as they said they could swap cheek pads etc to get it to fit properly. But I’m not also paying £300+ for an SRL3 comms, so my cheapo sena R5lite will have to get stuck on the side somehow.

Who is it on here that does the Shoei helmet fitting thing in the midlands somewhere?
