Taxed her and went for a quick ride (farkin cold), takes off like a screamin banshee at 5500-6000k revs. Few little carburation issues to iron out but generally pleased. Forgot how crap brakes were in the 70's:eek:

Nice....I can hear those 'spannies' from here......:thumb2

I have a number of mates with old two strokes and they (the old two strokes...:augie) are a hoot to ride. The engines are brilliant, brakes and suspension nearly always crap, but CAN be fixed.

Blood cold in Yorks' today mate.....Respect.......:bow

What a superb looking bike. Well done. Are they a quiet set of Higgspeeds?:augie

That looks great, well done, your goner have fun once Spring really gets going!

Thanks, tried to keep it as original as possible, spent a fortune on parts, front mudguard is wrong for year as are the colours, I have the standard exhausts which are solid but would need rechroming. Fairly pleased so far and can't wait for some decent weather.

Ooooh not standard........burn the witch!!!!!

There will some expert that will point out the non standard bits to you when you are out on it.:blast

Had one tell me i should have 6 segment reflectors on it instead of the two segment ones i had on my kettle....He didnt mention the piper, or all the bolts are stainless, as are the wheel rims and spokes, or that it had black sidepanels and a gold tank.

My Kettle has an original set of 1970s Allspeeds. The front downtubes are one continuous curve otherwise Gibsons sound the same. I need to get them rechomed and the RHS needs a dent pulling out. The front wheel needs rebuilding and a few details like wiring needs sorting. I might bite the bullet and have the frame recoated. Its been done before but not a good job.

My uncle is some kind of kettle guru he even makes restoration DVDs just google 'Barry Wilkes' and kettle

Guess he may have been why I rode bikes as a teen? Sold his kettle when I was 5 to raise my cousins, then found it again a few years ago, Small world sometimes.

Lovely:thumb2
Had a GT380 on a T plate brand new in identical colours, wish I'd kept it traded it in for GS550E in black.
Had a piper 3 into 1 exhaust on the GT sounded awsome.:drool
