I have searched the forums and I think I have a genuinely unique problem! I just put my '05 GS onto it's centre stand and the offside bolt had sheared. So from the full height of the centre stand over she goes onto the offside:eek: . Luckily with these things it tends to be only the pots that get a scuffing. Then the other bolt, which I think had bent, would not come off, so I had to hacksaw through it to remove the dangling stand.:spitfire

So I guess I will have to take the stand and my wallet to BMW and hope they don't take my eyes out.

On the positive side the HID's which Les Wassal fitted for me yesterday are stonking!!

Not unique! My '04 1200GS suffered the same problem recently - but fortunately the stand still supported the bike with only the nearside bolt holding it in place. A new bolt & trunion were about £6 to £8. The biggest difficulty was in replacing the main spring on the stand after fitting the new parts.

Yes, I had it on my 04 model, still under guarantee then. Luckily it jammed and didn't fall so I was able to ride it straight to the dealer who renewed it (hopefully with something better) at no charge; I remember mentioning to him that the same problem was common on my 1978 R100RS - and about time they got it right!
I am sure that lubricatiobn and checking tightness at this point is important.
