................and I can ride the new bike :bounce1

Except I'm away now until next week

Anyway, I've ordered a side stand foot (what the flip were KTM thinking of fitting that excuse of a side stand foot for a bike that will be used off road ), Wings heat shield panels and a R&G mesh rad protector.

I've got the issolation damped risers on back order from KTM and when I have some spare cash will order a Wings end can.

Oh, and the orange crash bars are on back order too as the dealer got confused and didn't fit them :blast

I really can't think of anything else needed for the bike although riding home in the dark last night the lights weren't much good for plus nat speed limit speeds on country roads. I'll play with the adjustment first though as they seem bright enough just that the throw wasn't very far.

Anything else there peeps consider essential?

Oh..............and that flipping engine..............I love the (mechanical) sound, I love the airbox growl, I love the harshness around 4,000 revs and I love the way it flys and the way it makes you laugh out loud when you open the throttle - roll on 600 miles and it's first service :green gri

Why were you being denied / rationed access to your new toy? Had you been a very naughty boy or something?

As for the "...it makes you laugh...", that hasn't relented a year after purchase. For a big lump of a bike they are pretty agile and corner well too!

A financial deal based on having to sell some bikes first......

Glad you're still laughing :)

i thought that might happen. bet you were banking on it too :D

i reckon the lights are ok, but they did need bringing up a bit, but just wait 'til you try using the adjuster. it's not exactly easily accessible :P

i keep meaning to do something about the sidestand, but i seem to have just got used to it. not bothered with the heat shields and rad guard myself, just went straight in for the pipe. you know he gives a discount if you order pipe and heat wing things together?

Defo banking on it but didn't take it for granted........

The side stand itself I have no problem with, just the very small footprint which will dig straight in if placed on soft ground.

I knew about the discount but, even with that, I just don't have the funds to cover both at the moment.

The rad guard is, I think, essential. it's a huge rad and looks very vulnerable to me, even if only ever used on road?

Andres

you might be right. they're probably quite cheap to replace though :mmmm

which one did you buy?

If I can manage to last another week of reading these posts without weakening and going and buying one I will be surprised. I nearly did a deal three or four weeks ago but held off until I tried the WC. I was surprised how good the new GS was, but when I jumped on the KTM I didn't have to think about a thing, it just fit. On the GS demonstrator i had to work at getting my gear changes smooth, got there in the end but had to adapt. Could not really fault anything about the 1190.

All logic says I should stay a while longer with the current GS, but that is so dammed hard with you guys having so much fun.:blast

Cookie and Milkmaid summed up perfectly for me the difference between the KTM and BM in the last few comments on the 'tell me about........' thread :)

I've got the same rad guard Andres. We'll be like poos in a pod. (That is the right saying isn't it?).
Have you got the alloy sump guard fitted?
Only other thing you need is a sticker like mine which says: "Make a party." Seemed only apt that I stick the sticker on the KTM as everytime I ride it a party goes off in my underwear!

yeah, but do you buy now while they are on offer or wait for the 1290? :green gri

Yup party boy, I got the sump guard.........

The thing with mine not having crash bars at the moment goes like this:

I got the luggage 'deal' which also came with heated grips and crash bars. As the R already has crash bars as standard you could spec something else to the same value, ergo a sump guard. Only the dealer got a but confused and thought I wanted the sump guard INSTEAD of the crash bars that were already on the bike......

Of course, there are none in the country at the moment and they are on back order.

No - That is easy, I want the 1190. More than quick enough, known quantity, good off road ability etc. Oh, then there is the deal!

I wish I had waited another year before buying mine to get the freebies.............not. :D.

I'd be inclined to stay off the bike until the crash bars arrive. You never can be too careful you know!!!

Listen to him Andres, I dropped my 24 hour old F800GS two days before the crash bars arrived for it... :blast

(as if you would :D )

It's probably a good thing I have no money, or else I'd want an orange thing in the garage too... :tears
