Shielded gearbox bearing, '81 RS

Can anybody tell me on which end of which shaft the shielded bearing 6304RSR . C3 is supposed to go in my 1981 R100RS gearbox and also which side should the shield be on? Please?

Lay shaft, with the seal facing away from the shaft. Like the picture attached.
