Broke mine getting it off to fit the TT hugger thats also busted (and the new improved versions also busted)!:spitfire

Anyway, I need to get a genuine replacement for the shock protector.

Get another o.e. BM one. I also managed to bust mine attempting to get it off to fit a hugger. For BMW, they were suprisingly cheap.
You don't have to take the shock out to refit it - simply cook it in a pan of boiling water for a few minutes until the plastic is slightly more malleable and offer it up whilst it's still hot. You'll then be able to prise the two halfs apart sufficently for it to fit round the top of the shock. Mine went on with no drama :thumb2

make sure you order part no 33537700667 (mudguard, spring strut) as the other part on the BMW system is obsolete now

Ta! But..........

.........I know about warming it first. Thanks.

Trouble is there are two different ones available. One at about £5 and one at£35!

My bike is a 05 model registered at the end of 04. Tried to read the label on the body of the shock but the numbers are hidden behind the spring and short of taking the backend to bits...:nenau

Any other identifiers??

Steptoe, Help????

I just ordered the part number I posted above, the £5 one.
The one for £35 I ordered it 2 months ago and there is still no sign of it. dealer says there is none in the country and they don't know when they will be coming in, checked other countries and they are the same.
Problem is they don't know what the difference is. I think the £35 is maybe a carbon fibre design.
I'm expecting it in about tues/wed so if it's the right one, I post and let you know
