shocks.... are mine a bit poo?

hey guys, finally got the gs all re assembled last night (after much cursing)

anyways, of course i couldnt resist taking it up the road to check it out and i found it surprising how much the rear squatted under acceleration... even after winding the preload up to max.... is this normal for the standard suspension?

i dont like it anyways but im just wondering is all.

Ill await any funny remarks!

No, it's not ...

... normal. Even on my 1100 with 35K on the original shocks there was no discernible squat under acceleration; and I'm proper tosser sized

Is the rear squatting or just the front rising IYKWIM ?

All bikes do that dont they and mine was no better when I swapped the shocks for an Ohlins / Wilbers mix although the rear end was massively improved in every way the front still lifts the same.

In fact with the reaction of the shaft drive etc then normally the front and the rear both seem to lift slightly under acceleration and then squat under deceleration or am I imagining it. I remember a mate having an early K100 when I had a CBR in the late 80's and it was very noticeable.

It could well be the shaft drive, its my first shafty... and i think the front does lift quite alot as well... i suppose i havent ridden it enough to get used to it yet. Just feels a bit... funny odd.

Im used to very firm suspension so the plushness of it might be messing with my mind!

Id like to get the bike up higher though anyway as i find it a bit small underneath me, so might bung in some different shocks, or get the different paralever rod thingie.

change the suspenders mine did the same and i've put ohlins on and the difference is huge even my missus noticed and now the bike rides like it should. the main problem was the front end dived into corners so off the brakes and your line tightens when you use the loud handle coming out of corners the back squats and your heading for the hedge on the other side of the road

mmmm i really fancy those wp eds shocks... but £1400... thats what i paid for the bike! haha... still.... damn they're sexy ... why didnt i get a super rich gf who knows just what to buy her fella for christmas... *sigh*
