went about putting new bits n bobs on the bike today and had to strip a lot of meccano off, got the air filter out and had a look, not changed since 2006, origional actually, only that bout 8 weeks ago took it to waterford for a full service,,, the **** never changed it , wonder what else he didnt do, moral of the story , mark your consumables and get them back after a service, better still, do it yerself, had great fun stripping the machine down , and only one small bolt to spare after sticking it all back!!

RGM gives you the bits he's replaced so you can see what came off. Could have a spare used set of bits, but I don't think so.

Took my 06 GSA to RGM, for valves setting and brake fluids change.
Roy invited me to stay and watch if I so wished, which I did purely out of interest.
All other elements of the service I carried out myself, for no other reason than I've always looked after my own vehicles, you get to know them better that way.

when i rang up the guy to give him an earful, he said that it did not need it? maybe true but I was under the impression if you get a service pack for a 10 k service that it would include the air filter

so maybe i was wrong to give out here before i had the detail from him, kneejerk action, still stands that all bits could be retrevied for peace of mind.

According the service schedule (copy here) the airfilter gets replaced every 12,000 miles or 20,000 km depeneding how you measure your distance. You don't say what service it was you had

The mechcanic may of just been trying to save you some money ?? why replace stuff if its still in serviceable condition, aslong as you didnt get charged for anything that you didnt have fitted all is fair .
