Shoei GT Air and the GS

But then, I could be 6" taller than I am (6' on a good day)

Chop a foot of a plane’s wing - and tell me the performance is only ‘slightly’ affected.

I note that you never mentioned the homemade ‘adjustment’ in your original post.................

Bravo!

It would have saved me a post lol

so your saying if I'd not of modified the screen into a mid size one, the air going over it would be more laminar in flow?.. No. don't think so.. it still has all the trailing edge detail as it had before, just 30mm lower

What I did say in my original post was, it does not do this with my Arai...

Well - they sell loads of the screens, they sell loads of the helmets...............

Since you never tried the screen before setting about it with the angle-grinder, maybe your helmet now needs the same treatment?

You’re funneeeee................ :D

GT Air + MRA Vario works perfectly for me. Took a few goes toget the screen/wing height combo right but great now.

I'm bet it will work if I raise the screen a tad, but then I'm looking through the thing whilst in traffic (and its dark tint) to see anything on the road in front etc... will give it a try next time I'm home... :)

venting works well.. although when you take the lid off, you look a bit like 'Fire Starter' as you hair (if you have any) has been blow dried in the groves LOL

Oops..... maybe not then :augie

Interesting post - I replaced my Arai with a GT Air in September last year and have done about 5000mikes since. I really like the helmet, for me it’s a lot quieter than anything else I’ve had and I like the integrated sunvisor. However, right from the star t it has been very bad at misting up....so I ride with it open for 80% of the time. Obviously cold damp winter air doesn’t help but the pinlock doesn’t do anything. Having read comments on this thread I may have to route past Infinity and ask them.

Mine misted at first, but then I installed the pinlock and it was great.. no problems at all.. Got to be careful if I put my glasses on however... Think its the chin guard thing... I'm sure if this was removed it would be okay.. I'm used to breathing down with my Arai, but the chin seal makes it imposable on the GT Air... try with it out and is your pinlock sealing right??

Pinlock was installed when I bought it so that would be the first thing to change out. I’ve tried various breathing options, as you describe but no joy! I’d put it down to having a split screen and so reduced airflow over the helmet but worth investigating.....albeit we are coming out of winter?

MRA and a GT Air here too. Great combination for me: comfortable, stable and quiet. Better than my Hornet, NXR, S3, S3 pro, etc...

Still prefer my J0 (open face) for local stuff though

Misting seems to be a common complaint with the GT-Air. Mine is definitely worse for this than my previous lid. I'm using the breath guard thing, but don't use the chin curtain because then it's just completely hopeless ! I do find the pinlock reasonably effective at keeping the main part of the visor mist-free, apart from in really terrible conditions. But I'll try the tip of leaving the rear vent open & see if this helps.

Can you close the rear vent??

Check out the vid from Revzilla - the guy covers pretty much every issue raised here about the GT-Air .............. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnZSEq942Pk.

If it's just venting arrangements, he starts at about 6.57. The rear vent adjust, as you will see.

Earlier he covers the chin vent, which is only to bring air upwards across the inside of the visor. There is also a visor position that allows a tiny airflow, for use in traffic. The seal is well thought through, so you shouldn't be able to slide a fag paper around anywhere, once it clicks fully shut. If you can, then the visor is probably not located correctly & will need sorting.

Hopefully this will help any of you guys with issues here. I know it's a long vid & the US sales pitch a tad annoying, but given the different helmet market in the US (it's quite large & many live hours away from a dealer), you can understand the strength of the Revzilla offering.

FYI the GT Air is being replaced by the GT Air 2, which will also have better integrated Bluetooth comma. It means there will be some older GT Airs around at bargain prices.

Did watch that last year... and yes, the rear vent closes.... need more time to play obviously... on the vid he says it has 3 positions, but its either open or closed... need to try that next time I get out :beerjug:

The new one is the reason I bought mine... £250... bargain !!
