I took a punt on a new Shoei GT-Air. My current Hornet is proving to be a tad too noisy for longer rides and in blustery conditions a bit buffety. Hopefully with aero focused on upright use this will be a less tiring lid and has the nifty Sun Visor too boot, though no Shoei ratchet/strap for the uk :(.

I have the same lid, though its Matt Black where yours is white, and white where yours is black. I love it. It's light, quiet and takes an audio/intercom system and mic easily. Thoroughly recommended.

Good to hear that I've only covered the 12miles home from the shop in it sofar as hailstones stopped play. I looked long and hard at the matt black one but I've had a few black helmets and felt they can get a little hotter in summer climes, not that'll be a prob here :/

Interesting
I've been thinking about a Neotec especially because of the sun visor.
You say that it's light. Can you tell me how much it weighs please I have a raid 2 at the moment and just wondered if its much heavier than mine.
Thanks

I am also looking at one of these in the exact same colour scheme...... It would compliment my Neotech for my different needs, usefully they use the same visor system..

As with Shoei's when they are first released it is hard to get any sort of deal on them, but I think I have spotted a way of a fair discount on their hefty £469 list price..........

Did anyone manage to get a decent deal?

:thumby:

Mine says its 1515 to 1550grams (see 2nd pic) though oddly a Black and red one I looked at was listed on the side as 1450g lower weight (cant recall the higher figure)

10% at helmet city without asking.

Yes, interesting Lids direct have them offered at 10% off on their site - on top of which I think there is a 15% code that can be applied making it a 25% discount making............................................ £359 delivered with free bag and care kit.

Any better prices out there?

Thanks for the info guys
Just need to find somewhere that I can have a look and try, all places around here have closed

Just put in a couple of long rides with the GT-Air on my bounce and it has performed well with some minor gripes.
1st day was a hot one and I felt that the front air vent wasn't flowing much air but that is in comparison with the Hornet, but overall the top vents did their job well once I remembered which position was open and the flip down visor was brilliant.
The 2nd Day was damp and drizzly and the visor seal worked very well with no water finding its way onto the inside of the visor, which happens a lot with a Hornet. As the day was overcast I left the flipdown visor up out of the way but when I came to a brighter patch I found that it had been covered in mist/damp and it didn't clear with the main visor cracked open, so suspect some damp had got in via the front top vent :/ .
Overall though very comfortable lid and its booked its spot as a longdistance foul weather choice. I may still use the Hornet for shorter/hot day rides as I like the airy feeling it give me, though if I take the bottom chin curtain out of the GT-Air it may feel more airy too.

Tried one on in Infinity the other day.

Was amazed at how luxurious it felt compared to my Tour X3 purchased in 2010. Think I may be a Shoei convert soon.

I need to buy a new lid as my shark is coming to the end of it's life and is too noisy for GS upright riding.
I am considering a "dual sport" (hornet or xd4) lid and the GT air. The DS lids I suspect will be ok for steady riding but be too noisy for longer rides and motorways.
I wear prescription glasses, has anyone got any comments about misting / clearing / ventilation of the GT air before I fork out +£400?

Sent from my tablet with spelling and grammar as if I'm on them.
