Just about to fit and Autocom headset into my new Shoei Hornet and wondered if anyone had done this and could offer any tips
Is there anywhere in the removable cheekpad to fit the speakers

On looking briefly at the padding there appears to be gaps in the padding for your ears so is it a case of just sticking the speakers onto the inside of the helmet shell.

I've got sticky backed velcro and duct tape to secure it all in place, is that ok

Any practical advice appreciated

Not fitted the autocom but the Scala rider headset, I placed the ear pieces in the cut outs you mentioned and with a touch of trial and error they are spot on....:thumb
the whole lining comes out on poppers to help you fit the headset this helps immensely with getting the 2nd ear piece in place

Ive olny fitted a few but they are are like the many XR1000's we fit, the speakers sit into the black plastic recesses. We use self adhesive velcro to hold all the parts down in place. The wiring loom is ran from under the cheek strap, on the boom we fit an open face conversion kit (Part 1198) as the style of the helmets let a bit more wind on the mics compared to the full face lids. We also fit the boom underneather cheek pad being careful of the positioning so the front popper/pressstud is clear so the pad will clip back in place correctly.

Got it all fitted and was a neat job BUT the bloody speakers are killing my ears bending them inside out

I tried repositioning but without much success and I now have ears the size of Dumbo

Its a shame the speakers aren't a bit smaller and thinner

Not sure where to go from here as I can't get on with the in ear earplug speakers.:(

If it really is unbearable, then you could try carefully pressing into the polystyrene with a hot spoon in order to make a few mill's more space.

Obviously though be careful, the more space you make, the less polystyrene there will be to protect you...

I dont think thats possible mate as i think the internals are the same as the XR1000's where the speakers fit onto the black plastic inner shell of the helmet.

I've taken off the plastic outers from the speakers to try and make them smaller and am going to totally recess them into the helmet.

I've experimented with them in the cheekpad section but whilst this would make them more or less totally unobtrusive I think a road test will show that they are too far away from my ear for decent sound

As GSRich says the polystyrene inside of the helmet is covered by a black plastic around the ear area so it will be difficult to sort putting them there

UPDATE

Have left off the speaker plastic surrounds and speaker covers and fitted them in the ear recesses very close to the neckstrap

I found that by wearing a coolmax balaclava my helmet goes on far easier and there is no discomfort from the speakers pressing on my ears

Also by wearing a balaclava with the Hornet I look hard as nails!:augie

Good work, I am really glad that you have got something sorted. Just be carefull at the ol petrol stations with the balaclava :augie
