Seems like the never ending saga in finding me a new lid!

Finally had my Shoei Hornet DS Sonora delivered today but noticed that the visor doesn't seem to close properly? It doesn't make contact with the seal at the bottom and sits slightly open.

Before I give the poor guys at helmetcity.co.uk another call, does anyone else with this helmet have the same issue? Looks like either a design fault or, more likely with my luck, a faulty helmet / visor.

My visor fits perfectly, in fact far better than my old TourX ever did - it does need a bit of a 'tug' to get it to lock over the gasket but I'm guessing that's not the problem you are having.

Not quite I'm afraid.

When the visor is on the bottom 'lock' position there's about a 1 - 2cm gap between the bottom of it and the rubber seal. I can pull the visor down a bit further so that it touches the rubber but it doesn't stay there.

Oh well, back to the sales guys then it seems. :(

Left hand side of the helmet.... Have a play with the little lever... You use this to keep the visor open slightly , or lock it !!... maybe its the wedged open position and is a bit stiff...

Or is that thing just fitted to Raids and Xr's ??

Don't know about the Raid or XR but there's no way to lock it in the fully closed position it seems.

There is a little lever on the left attached to the bottom of the visor but it doesn't appear to be movable or otherwise act as a locking tab as there's no last click or anything to keep it in the closed position. It only seems to act as an aid to opening or closing the visor with gloved hands.

I would've thought the slightest gust of wind will lift the visor up to the last locked position which will leave a gap of approx 1 - 2cm. This is because there's nothing to keep the visor in the fully closed position.

Not fitted on the hornet. Mine needs a final push to seal properly too, i'd take the visor off and check the mounting underneath the visor/peak is located correctly before i sent it back. Just be careful undoing the plastic screws to make sure you dont damage them i use a coin to undo mine.

That seemed to work. There's no final click to push it into the sealed position but it stays there it seems once closed.

Fits me like a glove if a little tight at the forehead but it's by far the most comfortable helmet I tried on. I must have a funny shaped head as one dealer put it!

It takes some getting used to h0wz3r because the visor on the Hornet hasn't got the solid 'click' into position of the Arai Tour X-3. That said, it stays rock solid at any speed and is a doddle to raise. :thumb2
