Has anybody tried both?

Are there many differences?

Is the new Hornet Adv much better?

Thanks, needs some advice as I don't know which to go for

Quite a bit I gather

You can take the visor off without removing the peak on the Adv version

I have the new Hornet Adv.

Can't compare it to the old model as I was always a TourX fan, but I like it. The gills in the peak help a lot with the usual complaints and it's nice not to have to take the peak off for a visor change. It isn't as plush as an Arai, but then, it isn't the price either.

Well, it must be that Arai/Shoei head fit thang. Having had the Tour X since they first came out I was so happy when Shoei eventually joined in ........ The DS fitted me better, was lighter and just, well (very important ;) ), looked better. I'm on my third now :)

I have no probs with it at silly speeds on the 1190 and don't ever remove the peek when changing visors so am struggling to see what the difference is?

I think the peak is a whole lot better second time around. I've always thought the original Hornets peak was too short to be very effective and the main reason I never considered buying a Hornet. The new one is, I believe, longer, so easier to block out the bad nasty sunshine if desired.

Ah, that's a very fair comment. The (old) DS peak is defo not as long as the TourX :thumb2

JB - there's quite a good review on Revzilla:

I've recently bought the TC1 Seeker, and it's a big improvement over my existing Hornet - quieter, haven't experienced any buffeting with the peak, the visor is stiffer and now locks down, no central mouth vent so intercom mic sits well, goggle strap stays put as well which is a bonus, and the peak and visor can be removed by fingers alone - no need for any tools.
Vents seem to work well, especially with the recent warm temps, although it will still give you a bizarre 'hair do' for those that still have any......:D
Oh - and the pinlock is bigger so I'm not constantly looking through the edge of it anymore :thumb

I've not tried either but it stands to reason the ADV version will feel more planted and have massive presence............;)

I have both, the new one is soon much better, more comfortable, less wind shear due to the vented peak, the ability to swap visors is awesome, the pin lock works.... the old one was not good the anti fog fogged!! the shape of the new visor works for the anti fog, its also lighter too.... all in all I am glad i made the jump.......

Meanwhile, the rest of us could wear a helmet out in the time it takes JB to decide which to buy :D

Did you get one JB? I'm in the market for a new lid, and the ADV seems to be getting some great reviews. I've had a couple of Tour X4's, but fancy something different, plus, this is about £50 cheaper.

Under £300 at wheelup.it in Italy
Bought my Shoei GT Air from them. Good to deal with and only a few days for delivery.
