Shoei Neotec 3 helmet Review

Oh good . A third thread on the new helmet

At least my thread is from a different source.
I’ve run a check before posting it. There was nothing. So it seem that both of us have posted at same time 07:31am.

I wonder if they’ll be as shit as the version they’re replacing?
Why is it shit? So far I am quite pleased with mine, I may replace cheek pard for a thiner ones (the original that came with the helmet), as I get a bit to much of pressure to my upper jaw. No doubt the 3 will be even better. I like the narrower strap and a new centrally visor tab too. Price increase over the old one is in the region of 5%, which combined with the intercom system, would set you back circa £900 when purchased at same time. buy them separately, and it’ll cost you additional £70. Prices based on lids with graphics.

Mine is probably the worst crash helmet I’ve owned in at least the last 20 years. The visor leaks unless adjusted every few weeks, something causes pin lock up inserts to lose their seal meaning that when the visor leaks water gets between visor and pin lock and you have to stop to sort it out.

I did read somewhere that this happens if you ride with the front up at too high a speed and it flexes the visor but I don’t do that so I can’t see any reason for the failing.

Bollox? No, opinion after persevering with the piece of shit and it certainly won’t be replaced with the new version.

Think you must have got a rogue one there - I can't fault mine after almost daily use over the last 6 months or so.

I’m not impressed with my Neotec 2 at all.

Its noisy and fogs up at the slightest excuse even with an insert.

It’ll do for the rest of this year but I’ll be getting rid after that.

Well mine is the best helmet I’ve ever had . Visor has never leaked .
Will definitely replace with new one when offers start after the initial sales

What is a pin lock ? Don't think I have one on my piss pot.

Maybe, the thing is that if you spend a few minutes looking at reviews posted on various forums it’s not an uncommon complaint.

Another minor issue that I put down to my wearing vari focal glasses is that if I lower the tinted insert while the main visor is down I get some kind of refraction and can’t read instruments or the sat nav but if I lift the main visor it’s ok. Maybe riding at higher speeds with the visor up is what causes it to lose the seal or move a pin lock, I don’t know but as far as I’m concerned I wouldn’t give it more than 3/10 and only wear it if I know I’ll be somewhere where they’ll ask me to remove my crash helmet but accept the front being lifted.

If you can’t accept genuine criticism of a product without some kind of sarcastic response then my only answer is fuck off you know nothing wanker.

That post wasn’t aimed at anybody in particular . Nice reply .

Stop back peddling, I commented on pin locks losing their seal and within minutes you dished out the standard sarcasm with a comment about people fitting incorrectly then moaning like fuck about how shit they are.

It’s the way you are, you obviously don’t realise you’re doing it but it’s why so many people get pissed off with it. The pin lock lost its seal on mine within a couple of weeks of being fitted by a shop so I removed it, cleaned it, fitted it and adjusted it then after a few weeks the visor started to leak and the pin lock followed shortly afterwards. That’s with a genuine OEM visor and a genuine pin lock hence my comment about know nothing wanker.

I haven't read any forum reviews - so I can only go by my experience and would not hesitate on buying another - if I do get another and it has the problem you have had it will go straight back to the dealer.

I bought one last year. I only use it for long trips, but it works well for me on those occasions.
My wife bought hers shortly before I bought mine and loves it, no leaks from visor nor pin lock so maybe it’s a quality control issue?

I don’t bother with a pin lock now and if it rains and water gets behind the visor I ignore it and when the rain stops lift the visor which clears any damp left behind but the first few times it happened and rain got between pin lock and visor it was a real pain in the arse.

do you leave your top vent open in the rain? that‘l be your likely source of water ingress.
