Shoei Neotec Helmet

Hi there, am looking at the new Shoei Neotec, and wondered if any GS'ers have bought one?

I tried one on and found it a great fit, but I am used to the conventional D-ring type fasteners and saw that this had a metal 'ratchet' type?

Just wondered what feedback you had about the fastener and the helmet in general?

I bought one after having a Multitec, no problem with the new fastener. Comfortable and pretty quite.

Thanks. Have the Tour X4 at the moment and liked the Shoei as it has the benefit of the flip front but looks like a regular full face.

I have a Neotec. No problem with the ratchet but the helmet is very noisy & prone to misting, even with the pin lock inserted.
I'll not be having another.

Had mine for nearly two years, no problems with the fastener and considering its a flip front it's not that noisy. It mists up with the visor down but didn't until the visor and pin lock where just over a year old, more of an issue with the pin lock than the helmet. Most comfortable helmet I've had to date and would have another.

The only criticism I would have is the strap on the buckle side is too short which (in my opinion) makes pulling it on a little cumbersome.

I have one and like it a lot more than my previous Schuberths

I have 2 Neotecs and very pleased with them, no issues with the strap length or connection although a push-in fastening will never be as comfy as a d-ring, it's fine though. Had no problems with misting other than if I'm wearing my Streetguard 3 jacket with it's storm collar which then limits air flowing through from underneath, adjusting the pin-lock properly does help though and the in-helmet ventilation is actually pretty good, far better than my previous Multitec.

Mine mists up too easily and is, without doubt, the noisiest helmet I have ever had and I have had loads since 1962.

I replaced my schuberth with the neotec...and for me its a lot quieter than the schuberth, and lighter to wear. I find the belt buckle closure easy once used to it, I kept pushing it through too far and ended up with it too tight across my neck!
It also does not suffer from rivers running down the inside of the visor when it rains or fuggin' fogging up like the schuberth, it has a pinlock which works fine in all weather conditions, from below zero to high humidity... and I have enjoyed some days of biblical rain on tours the last couple of years and it has performed very well. The visor needs to be closed properly, I suspect others having noise issues needed to have the visor adjusted slightly, and maybe their pinlocks too!
Ventilation works well, the extra piece that can be attached by velcro on the chin piece makes it so quiet I felt somewhat cut off form "out there!"
easy to fit my autocom comms in, space for headphones although not used I I have UE monitors

A very comfortable all day helmet, HTH

I think that misting only happens when the pinlock insert gets old or is not seated correctly, mine started out perfect but has started misting - just haven't got round to re-seating it yet. I don't find noise an issue but I always wear ear plugs and the noise changes a huge amount depending upon the fit, the clothes you wear and the bike windscreen. The only way to find out if a helmets works for you is to try one for real unfortunately.

Great helmets and I rate it better than the Schuberths before it, and ten times better than any BMW helmets

Doesn't mist up, it's quiet (but then I do use some of the best earplugs in the business) It's well made and not worked loose at all, either in the fit or flip front or visor... still as crisp and sweet as when new.

I am in a similar position, had shoei helmets for years and now it's time to replace my x spirit. Looking at the neotec and adv hornet. Not tried them on yet but would also be interested in any opinions

I have both, Neotec and Hornet Adv

I use the Hornet for local stuff and the Neotec for touring as it's great for taking pics or having a drink at the roadside, plus the sunshade is a boon

I had two Multitecs which I liked a lot and now have a Neotec.
I think the Neotec is better.

More comfortable and less noise.
Noise does vary with neck-warmer fitting, screen position, but I find it very good.
No problems with misting yet.

Sunvisor works fine too.
Ventilation is good.

Neotec minimum visor opening is more that the Multitec, but it does not cause me a problem.
