bought MCN last week for the first times in ages and saw a new helmet from Shoei, - Hornet DS, a Tour X rival, looked really good and as I find Aria helmets too deep for my shallow skull I am looking forward to this hitting the shops. Anybody know anything about it? Looks like it is for sale in the US.

If it's for sale in the US, it's only just available there. Judging by the posts on Adventure Rider, the Merkins who've previously bought one have been importing them from Japan. I also note that the ads in that link make no mention of Snell or DOT approval on those helmets.

According to this week's MCN, they'll soon be available from Shoei dealers in the UK.

Happy now.......?

The Shoei Hornet is a good helmet, but the Tour X is better,in my opinion.

And I'm normally a 'Shoei head'.

The Tour X is alot quieter at speed and the lining is more substantial.

I agree with Mr Fagnet.

They have been out for a few years now, I tried one when I was over in Japan but preferred the Arai. The field of vision from the Arai is much better - I can't give an opinion on wind noise as they didn't have a hair drier in the shop to simulate:rolleyes:

Have Fun

Well I bought mine in Tokyo in 2003 and used it quite a bit including on 2 long trips to Spain when I had my KTM 950 Adv S.

The 'new' model looks unchanged and my old one is now in the attic,as it can't compare with the Tour X.
