.......which flip front ????

I've always had full face, but now fancy a flip front. My current helmet (very happy) is a Shoei Raid II and previous was a Nolan.

Seems I have 3 choices;

Schuberth C2
Nolan N103
Shoei Multitech

I love the idea of an internal visor....full marks Nolan & Schuberth....why not one in the Shoei ???

Big price diff too;

Nolan £220
Shoei £260
Schuberth £320 (!!!)

....any comments ideas welcomed. :beerjug:

My comment would be that the Shoei is the one to go for. My wife's Schuberth is a nice lid but has no pinlock - the visor coating started peeling off the first time she wore it.

Just returned from the Le Mans 24 hr race - biblical rain yesterday afternoon on the South Downs and plenty of rain in France. My Shoei did not mist up once, was completely watertight and very comfortable for the whole weekend. It is also designed for coms with deep pockets for speakers and plenty of room for wiring etc. Overall a top lid and I was previously an Arai fan!

The Schubert C2 flip up is rather short from front to back. Shoei and Nolan much better in this dimension. Shoei has no sun visor, Nolan visor is external to the helmet and only covers half your vision. Schuberth sun visor is just large enough.

Biggest sun visor I have found on a flip up is a Lazer.

I use a BMW System 5, which although made by Schuberth is a quite different design from ther own and the BMW design is much larger front to back which accomodates my big chin comfortably. Unfortunately it has no sun visor. Reasonably quiet I find. My biggest grip with it is that the view through the visor is rather "letter box" like as the brow line is lower than other helmets and can press down on large sunglasses

It's a case of "if the cap fits"........ All good helmets, try each of them and rate them in comfort terms for yourself :thumb

I've had a C2 but it was a bugger for misting up, quite heavy but I loved the sun visor, I also found that the side lock was tricky to open one handed. Also fitting coms was a nightmare

Bought a Shoei last month and love it. - Light, and with a light reactive fog city insert, no misting and no need for a visor.

I belive the Shoei does not have a visor due to japanese safety tests but I might be wrong on that one.

The lock is on the front and opens easily one handed when on the move.

Does the Nolan have the visor on the outside? If it does this always struck me that it would get scratched or marked quite easy

Shoei. The only lid that comes even close to the build quality of an Arai (and it is very close too):thumb

Shoei + three :thumb2
pinlock kit whisper kit smoked visor included in the box ..hand made apparently and top quality ...visor changed in a minute overall a light and quiet helmet hth

I'd love a shoei but my chin sits on the chin bar and it's uncomfortable. Anybody would think I'm fecking Mr Punch :thedummy:thedummy:thedummy

I have a Nolan but wouldn't recommend it unless your funds are tight.

Given the right money I'd choose the System 5 or the Schuberth.

Hi I have had a new c2 for six months now, tried them all on and bought it off the back of a ride magazine recomendation about low noise levels.
What a load of balls that was , there is no noticable reduction in noise, and it certainly isn't worth the extra cash i paid.
Not had it mist up though and i spend a lot of time in it.
Its heavier that the rest I'm sure and wider to the point it won't fit ia my pannier like my old one did.
Ho and the sun visor doesn't come down quite far enough.

You can probrably tell i ain't to impressed with it, but if your going to spend the eqivelant of 150+ pints of Guinness on a lid it needs to be good
