Went to Motorlegends to test the helmet. I believe they are the only one shop in UK who offer this service.
Turn up and test the helmet. No appointment. Took half day off to test the helmet and be educated how it works.
I only wanted to test the ANC. No music, navigation etc tested.
I used my 1250RS with a Puig Sport screen (half size of standard screen) and custom ear plugs. Remus end can on the bike.
Went out and tested the helmet in several situations with ANC ON and ANC OFF, the max speed was 60 mph, didn't go on the motorway.
I am half deaf (issues with highs and I use hearing aid) but wind noise I pick up very well. My every day helmet is the System 7 Evo. Was out for 45 minutes on the bike.
Operation is simple. One button to turn on/off the ANC, a voice is also telling you when is on or off.
The helmet is a C5 ANC with different internals so the Edge ANC only fits this model helmet and not the normal C5. Externally it is a C5. Fit was spot on.
On the test I removed the small chin piece curtain from the flip up piece.
Test:
1.Helmet visor shut all vents shut ANC ON.
QUIET
2.Helmet visor shut all vents open ANC ON.
QUIET
3.Helmet visor open 5mm vents open ANC ON.
QUIET
4. Helmet flip up in locked in UP ANC ON.
QUIET
Repeat the above with ANC OFF the helmet was just as loud as my System 7.
It works for
me and I hazard a guess with the Puig Touring the test would have been even more relevant. I could hardly hear the Remus on the test.
Cost around £1080 when you buy the helmet and the Edge together. Only 3 colors. Helmet 5 years warranty, ANC 3 years.
Would I buy one. Yes, if they bring out a color scheme like Omega or Zenith. It's great that Motolegends offer this service
My opinion may differ from a different tester. But if there is something out there that can preserve my existing hearing why not.
Also I will wait until this hits the road.
Sena 60 S EVO with in ear Bose ANC buds.
With "LIFE TIME WARRANTY"! The unit is already on sale at £350 but no supplier has any idea about the buds. "Includes traditional high-definition hardware clamps for helmets alongside explicit support for plug-in ANC earbuds via a 3.5mm jack/port configuration for riders preferring in-ear isolation." Claims Sena. So I assume you can plug in any brand? Couldn't find any reviews apart from Sena website. I had the first gen ANC Bose and the second gen. They are/were far better than the competition. This bud looks like it was made for the Sena unit.
FC-Moto sells the BOSE buds for around £50.
