Any of you GS owners feel the side stand is too short??? My GSA one certainly is!

I appreciate the bike is heavy so needs to lean etc but when the ground is un even or when parking at the side of the road (left camber) the bike leans over so much its hard to get the thing back up after a days riding!

So... I either need to work out more or get a longer side stand! Anyone know of one or modded it? A larger 'foot' would be useful as well... have any of you cut it off and welded a piece of tube onto it? Would it be strong enough?

Please help... cos I'd hate going to the gym!!!

Thanks again,

The side stand issue is a endless ongoing one. I modified mine by getting a block of hard rubber from the shoe repair shop and fixing it through the foot of the side stand with a couple of self tapping screws. The block may need to be shaped a bit so it doesn't touch anything when the stand is up (use a dremel for this) . It works great and has stayed firmly in place for a couple of years. Cost of this mod was a couple of quid for the rubber.

I welded a larger foot plat onto the botom of mine(1100gs), but when i fixed it back on it fouled the centre stand. I ended up grinding it to fit. By the time I had finished it was not much bigger than the original. So I wouldn't recommend that route.
