I’m just back from a 10 day bimble around Europe with a couple of pals. We had nothing planned other than me wanting to stop at Jockgrim ,as due to illness I missed the Ronno’s trip last year, and a vague idea of heading to Interlaken. The weather was a real bonus with just one days rain during the whole trip and we ended up visiting Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Austria. We followed out nose's taking interesting looking roads or picking villages from the map because we liked the sound of the name.

Looks a nice pint there, Andy :D :thumb2

Some cracking pics. I really like the alpine ones :beerjug:

Someone stole your GS Andy .. and swapped it with some crappy bike :D

What did you think of the Tiger as a solo touring bike.
Fuel range, luggage (OEM is crap I know), comfort?

Tiger works very well as a tourer for me. I have added the "comfort" seat(gel inserts), touring screen, mirror extenders.

You're right the OEM luggage is not very well thought of although I have never used it. My Metal Mules work well, filtering takes a bit of learning as the back is now wider than the handlebars.

Tank range varied from 170(fast autobahn cruising) to 205(gentle Swiss bimble)

My Tiger feels like a lighter, quicker, lower, smoother version of my previous1200GS without the off road ability or (in my case) the reliability issues.

If I was being picky
the rear shock gets a little confused on very bumpy/choppy back roads,
the headlight is shit and needs HID,
the scroll button for trip/mpg etc etc is down below the clocks and would be so much better on the handlebars like the GS, likewise the heated grip switch is on the fairing cowl and not as easy to use on the move as the BMW version.

Overall I'm very happy with the change in the real world I can't hand on heart say the Tiger does anything that much better than my 1200GS but I prefer it and feel confident taking the Tiger on a long trip a feeling I lost on my 1200GS.

Cheers Stumpy...I enjoyed that. :thumb2

Was hoping to see you`d done it on the Scram......fancy a double Scram re-run sometime ?

Glad you are getting on with the tiger, just keep checking the oil my 955i made me fall for adventure bikes BUT, the engine needed rebuilding at 4000 mls, new clocks at 8000mls must be like your gs just got fed up with it coz things kept going wrong.
good report :thumb2
