hey guys,

i've got some pannier rails and i need to shorten the stems of the rear indicators, is it worth having a go at this or do people just order shorter ones from somewhere....? :nenau

I used a pair of early Triumph indicators. Not expensive, fit straight on without butchery and you get to keep the BWM ones intact.

Tully, Metal Mule can supply short stems have a look on the website were about £10.00 a few years back.

The Givi pannier rail kits come with special brackets which fix beneath the rack to allow the standard indicators to be kept. They are pretty simple L brackets which should be fairly easy to make for other systems I reckon.

Contact Roger from Ard paniers (look at the vendors). I was up at his getting some paniers the other week and he shortened mine in 30 mins. He just cut them in half, cut a section out the metal tube and put them back - I'm sure he'll tell you anyway. Piece of cake

...thanks guys, will have a scout about, the rails i bought didn't come with re-locating brackets as i didn't buy them new..! :augie

If you merely shorten the stems you are likely to hide your indicators between the panniers, I used the TT brackets to move them back and out and then Metal Mule shortening stems to make it not look like an alien, I believe Vern has been known to knock up both items :thumb2

Cut em down yourself, easy to do and save yourself a tenner. They'll look like this....

panniers & indicators + top box

ok guys thanks, i just want to get the indicators shortened, they also carry back breaklights in them.

this leads to another question, just so i can ask santa for the right pressie! :bounce1

can you have touratech panniers (41ltr & 35ltr) AND a top box fitted at the same time...?

i have a Givi maxia 52 top box at the moment cos it carries so much more than a metal one - is it possible to combine a top box & bracket (metal or plastic) with touratech panniers (41ltr & 35ltr) or is there not enough room between the panniers for the base of the top box....?

I know BMW top box and panniers work together but I don't want BMW panniers - just wanted to ask people who have this set up

cheers:thumb2

hope this helps
