Low seat is not the only option. Wilbers do a replacement suspension setup that claims to reduce ride height by 50mm. Wunderlich are now distributing Wilbers suspension, download the 1200GS catalogue from the SPC site.

Have finally tried Wunderlich Low-Ergo seat. Very comfortable (see comments on recent "1200 seat" thread) but the slightly lower seating position does not translate into more ground reach due to the seat being slightly wider. The reach is about the same as BMW's low seat option. It is however more supportive with less sliding about than the OME seats with no "hollowing" of the lower back which I found on the low OME seat. The only advantge of the OME low seat is that due to it being narrower it is quicker to change from left to right "hanging off" positions.... :D
If anyone is interested, get in touch if you want to try it out.

hi mad tenor
sounds like there's not much in it, do you feel you've wasted your dosh??

It's definitely better for the lower back and more comfortable on longer journeys. I have another week to try it before the refund option expires. On balance I think it is better than the BMW low option; whether it is worth the money is an individual thing. Get in touch if you want to try it if Beds. is not too far from you... :)

Wow, you lot have really perked me up..

I am 5' 11" (33" inside leg) and have just got my 1150 ADV last Friday with a low seat, I can just get my ball of my feet down, I keep getting told the bike is too big for me but I love it.

To park the bike I have to jump off and manhandle it in to place, not easy when you are 9st wringing wet.

Can I ask how you all cope parking your bikes? do you jump off or just ride em in? Are there any tips to manhandling a bike around?

BTW I have only been riding just under a year....

try your low seat

Thanks Mad Tenor
I'm not priviledged enough to email you via this site, so i'll make arrangements here: I'd love to have a sit on your bike, how busy are you next tuesday 29th, or thursday, or even friday. Late morning would suit me if convenient.
Please feel free to email me [email protected]
