Dont know if others suffer but on my vfr I used to always after a longish days riding get the outer cheeks of my arse where they make contact with the outer edge of the seat get sore.
Thought it was better on the GS but just had a weekends riding on the GS last weekend in the heat and the same thing not bad to start with but after each stop it feels like your skin is beeing torn .

So Guys & Gals I wondered if wearing racing bike cycle shorts is likely to help they seem to have padding a chamois :nenau

orrible thought :rob :rob

is it the seat or a sweat rash amplified by damp, creased (and probably very smelly)  underwear?

probably seat causing dampness no smelliness I can assure you :) but strangely full contact patch area ok just the sides that catch the edge of the seat ??

Liberal :ymca applications of Johnsons Baby Powder on the arsal regions certainly helps. And it helps the underpants smell sweeter for longer.

Be carefull with that....I use it occasionally, and took a shaky thing of it with me on the TITS ride....after three or four days of 10 hour days on the C90 though, I came up with a couple of nasty boils on me arse.....the next fortnight was a tad sore

Aparently talc clogs the pores.......clogged pores don't sweat, bacteria builds up and suddenly you have a boil.

It wasn't nice....nor was having Rev Chuck suck out the poison.......and Jaq (senior nurse chappess and all round good egg) said that they recommend that you don't even use it on babies anymore :nenau

From the sounds of it, the best thing for you RR might be either an airhawk, or getting your seat foam trimmed a wee bit on the edges....any upholsterers, saddle makers, furniture restorer or whatever will be able to do that pretty cheaply ;)

Thanks for your help together think an air hawk would leave me struggling a bit as only 29 inside leg tried a couple of lowered seats but they were uncomfortable so went back to genuine standard one.

It didnt help I guess three days of hot riding maybe needed a day off

Time to confess yep I wear padded cycling shorts under my fabric bike trousers. Used this for many long days on the bike at home and abroad in the heat and it certainly helps with the comfort. Key thing as mentioned above is good hygiene and washing the shorts each day to prevent the dreaded boils on the a***e . :bounce1

I've worn cycling shorts with a chamois pad and it works for me. It also helps if you apply baby lotion or aloe vera into the chamois gusset. I wore them on a trip to the south of France last year and had no soreness. I washed them at the end of every day and they were dry by the following morning.

Arrgghhhh I need mind bleach after reading this thread...

Where are moderators when you need them? ;)
