Should ESA be able to turn by hand

Was washing my bike after a ride and noticed the whole ESA system including spring turns freely about 1 inch from left to right when washing. The bikes just had its first service and they never mentioned it

I never noticed this when I cleaned my 2013 wc gs....it shouldn't move like this, should it ?

I spoke to bmw about this on my 14 gsa and they replied saying it was a new type of mounting and was ok.

Yeh. Had a look at mine and it spins too. Id say about 1".

Mine only spins half an inch , should I take it back

Take it back for replacement. Should be covered under warranty. Dont take no as an answer.
