Should I buy it????

A friend of a friend who is a bike mechanic and enthusiast has offered me a R1100 GS W reg good condition, new tyres, ABS, heated grips 12 months MOT, BMW panniers and givi topbox. All the bits are there with some service history but 55,000 miles for £3500.

Little corrosion around the front of the crankcase/gearbox and forks are OK.

Does this sound like a good buy it??

Have a f650 at the moment and fed up with it!!

What do you lot think??

Sounds a bit expensive I think.... I bought my 44k FSH 1100Gs with full luggage in very good condition with no corrosion and 12 month BMW warranty for 4k... There are cheaper ones out there but Im happy with mine

i know of a fair R1150GS with around 20,000 less miles and less money and newer....

if thats the case someone should be on it like a rash they go for more than that on ebay right now. fact is you cant get one with 50,000 miles on ebay for less than 3600sounds like an easy 600 quid profit to me

An 1100 on a W plate?.Sure its not an 1150.
If you know and trust the seller,£3500 is not a bad price for an 1150 imo.
Miles don't matter too much IF its been looked after.

W reg would be bikes registered between 1st March and 31st August 2000, so its possible it is a late 1100. They didn't introduce the 1150 until the summer of 1999, so a few came in with T reg.

By the way - I did not buy it!!! After extensive research that drove my wife mad I decided that I could do a bit better for the money.

Anybody that has a 1100 or 1150 GS for sale within reasonable distance of leicestershire let me know.

Plodding on with the f650 for now
