I would normally ask our techie wizard at work but it's Sunday and the deal expires today. I don't do gaming etc so it's just for basic internet access by wi-fi and photo and music storage and basic business stuff - word etc.

Looks like a good deal if you include the JL 2 yr warranty?

£10 cheaper at E-Buyer : http://www.ebuyer.com/product/164881

Lots of cheap laptops around and they're only going to get cheaper (IMO).

Take your time and chose carefully what to spend your hard earned coin on :thumb

I've got a Toshiba Satellite but not the one you're looking at. They are very good. Solidly built, good screens etc. Can't comment on the tech specs though.

Looks fine for what you describe you want to use it for. You won't be unhappy with it. I'd go for a dual core processor if I had to choose and maybe some extra RAM and a bigger HD but that's just because I'm greedy - this just gives more possibilities especially when you are doing multiple activities at the same time. £300 is a good price - yes you might be able to get it £10 cheaper somewhere else....but this is John Lewis and they do seem to look after their customers. I'd pay £10 for that.

Price seems okay, especially considering the added value of JL's 2 year guarantee & customer service should you need it.
You can add 2GB of memory from crucial for £21, which would improve performance no end.

Laptopsdirect have some GradeA1 Toshibas for the same price, with a higher spec.

The compromise is these only have a 3 month warranty.

I know this might be a bit late but one of my pals has bought this laptop, I set it up for them on Friday and have to say for the money I was impressed.
