Should I get radiator protector covers

I bought radiator covers for my new 1250.

I’d like to say it was wholly to protect the radiators but part of it was ‘ooooo new bike what can I buy for it?’

Come on..we’ve all been there haven’t we?

I bet that's not all you've added :D

I'm guilty as charged too. I bought the OE ones from a main dealer on evilbay after someone I know suffered a holed rad and ended up getting recovered after his dash showed a warning but didn't say what it was. The rad was replaced and bike checked over but as it was nearing the end of its warranty he decided to trade it in rather than risk it developing a problem later on. I'm guessing they were not an OE item early on because at that stage there was no evidence there could be a problem which has since been revisited by the mother ship.

I've had radiator guards on all my BMW GS's since my 1150 purchased in 1999.
So, YES. I do recommended them.

This statement has the same validity as me stating that I do not recommend them. In the last 100,000 miles or so I've not had rad/oil cooler guards and never experienced a punctured radiator. :D

They are form of insurance, that may or may not be needed.

I have bought a £12 set from AliExpress which look to be pretty good quality to be honest. However, I haven't fitted them yet. I will post on here when I eventually get around to it.
