I had a chance to get this one today (I may still have, as it is in France) it was up at £3500, is that a good deal for one of these? 1960. R50/2

P.S. You seen that R80st for sale on Eblag at £3,200 ( or something like that )....that same bike sold for £2,200 about 2 months ago ( I know as I bid £2,100 for it !! ).

Kev, If it's a runner and just needs a little tinkering for an MOT, then I'd say the price was about right. Go for it.
If it needs a full strip and rebuild just to get it on the road you'd want to get it for under the 3K mark. How much work do you want on your hands?
Fully restored you could ask anywhere between 8 & 18K depending on how greedy/realistic you want to be.
It's the same bike my father had and the first BM boxer I ever rode.

Im a bit surprised at the lack of reponse to this thread and I suppose its due to the difficulty of suggesting a value. I think the bike is great and would love to restore something blike that. I am a bit concerned that it looks as if it is for sale in an auto jumble, so one has to ask why. If it was any good I am sure it would be advertised in a mag or something. Dont know how rare it is so very difficult to value but in view of the way it is being sold I would try a low offer and go from there. I recon dealers at these do.s want to see enough profit and thats all. you can bet he didnt give much for it.

It was in a jumble, and the seller was French, he had previously sold three of these in a more tatty state, for £3000 each, and as you can see it is in the colour of the Swiss police apparently. yes it was a little ragged around the edges but then it is fifty years old, I don't look so good myself as a lot of you know!

That bike is way overpriced and a shed.
I know it's not relevent now, but 10 years ago Bob Porecha gave me a one owner R69s to sell for him, fitted with BRAND NEW carbs, i sold it for£1950.
I should have give him the money myself and put it away in the shed with the rest of my collection.

If it were me Id jump on it but then again that's just me seems like a lovely old bike and lots of hours enjoyment working on it and riding it.

I am still looking for one of these, in this sort of condition, I do not want a restored bike.... The problem is, I have not seen another for sale since seeing this one in January! I knew I should have bought it, but there you are.

The point was that you should have bought it, it's a bike, you buy with your heart, if everything had to be an investment, no-one would ever buy a new bike.
With the recent rise in old BMW prices, all you you would have done is buy it too early.

I have never bought a bike as an investment,
Bikes are to be ridden, not hidden in a garage only to come out for shows or sunny daysand you are right I really should have bought it...
