Left the bike into main dealer for 20,000km service. Went back today to collect it and as I drove off the forecourt I noticed the brakes were "very" soft  . Drove around their yard several times thinking it might be that I had another bike as a loan bike and need time to readjust but then it happened.............. No brakes at all. The mechanic on duty took the tank off and did more than his best to fix it but still nothing. The system was full of air :spitfire and after a long protracted bleeding of the fluid it got no better.
So the GS is now left at the dealers. I have a loan bike but feel very unhappy that anyone could let the bike back to the customer with the brakes like this. Does anyone have a comment as to whether I should look for a discount on the service because of the cock up on the brakes ?

Never mind asking for a discount ask for a full refund and compensation for putting your life in danger this is just incompetence and name the dealer.

night trunker.

I agree. This could have been disastrous, and I don't think it's too much to ask that the dealer corrects the fault, gives you the whole service free and maybe reimurses you for the additional return journey you'll have to undertake.

I accept that mistakes happen, that parts fail, and that from time to time mechanics will miss the odd fixing, but there are some errors that are unforgiveable and this sounds like one of them. Forgetting to tighten up a body panel fixing is one thing, but this is a different league.

And let's not forget - they charge you a sizeable amount for labour, part of the justification for which is the training of the expert mechanics that'll be working on your pride and joy.

BMW dealers.....they don't do themselves any............. :mmmm

PS ask for a free service at least and speak to the workshop manager and foreman together and ask what the FUCK is going on ?

Luke,
What you do depends on how much you want to upset yourself.
The issue is that no matter what went on, the bike was not tested properly before it was handed back out of the workshop. Even if by some chance t turns out to be an unrelated componet failure - but much more likely a screwed-up bleeding procedure.
You may need these guys again so don't burn bridges.
Full refund on the cost of the service would be my pitch.
Conor McRory used to be the man in Motorad, if it does not end happily at local level.

I STOPED this guy on the T.T course he came past me at 120mph and i caught him up in the village of KIRK MICHEAL.

You saved my life he said,
You made my day I said
