Hi guys,
got an 1150gs and for some reason after about 50 miles my right shoulder blade and right arm are in bits! Really painfull.
Never happened with my previous bike (a V-strom) so know its not me being deformed.
Is this a regular problem? Is there a good modification to counter it? Am I deformed!!?
Any info would be great,
Cheers

Yep, you're a raspberry ...

... but before you bung it on eBay, try some pull backs or risers. Mine was the same until I fitted Rox risers and it's now v comfy :thumb2

When I first got a gs, I found that my arms were at a bit of a stretch when sitting on the bike, got some risers (which I dident want) but also moved them baxck a bit and this worked great much more comfortable you do need to adapt these bikes to you as you've got to ride them not Mr BMW.
A bit of persiverance pays dividends.

Those throttle rockers hurt more than just holding the throttle IMHO they tend to force your hand to stay in the same position without being able to alter the angle of your wrist....Also they make slamming the throttle shut in an emergency pretty hairy too I had a real moment this year in Paris during the rush hour:eek::blast:yikes and yes I know you can turn them around while youre moving but its pretty dodgy ....

I find I tense up after about an hour of riding and get a pain across my shoulders , I just force myself to relax and it goes away...try it before buying more bits, save a few quid....who's to say spending 30-00 quid on bling will work anyway ? :beerjug:

thats my tuppence worth

Grip the tank tighter with your knees - no, really - this causes the body to release the strain on the arms (if the problem is caused by you unconsciously 'over gripping' with your arms).

That could be the problem as the V-Strom has more power and (the 1000 cc one!) and you'll likely be more used to hanging on for dear life! My boss at work has one and he is always seems to be hanging on for dear life ...

Give it a try and see if the problem is holding on too tight with your arms - then you can change riding position / grip / whatever.

HOW tall are you, by the way? Could it be an issue ... ?

Rox risers and cramp busters.
Fitted both to my R1150gS and they do make a difference. I have also got adept at roing the crampbuster out of the way when not on open roads.

Cheers guys for your input, guess I'm not the only raspberry then!
Someone did ask how tall I was, don know if it makes a difference but I'm 5'10".
Will try all the free ideas first before I splash the cash!
:)

if your seat is in the low position try it in the raised and see if that makes a differance, thats free :thumb
