shuberth or multitech

Im going to be in the market for a new lid soon and im going down the flip route.

Ive narrowed my choice down to the shuberth C3 or the shoei multitech.

any input from anybody with experience of the above would be great.

Tried the Schuberth C2 and found the following:-

Vents worked well for me, the pop down visor is great when the sun comes out and the lid is very quiet. Also vision is excellent On the down side I find it heavy, the side button to lift the front is awkward being off to one side and difficult to flip one handed and I found the internal padding a bit lacking. The other issue I had was trying to fit auto speakers and mouthpiece as the lack of padding means you have to rip into the lid to fit stuff. The last bit of bad news was misting from the visor, there is some sort of coating on the inside of the visor that does well when new but I got the inside wet and the coating peeled off.

The Multitec.
A lot lighter feeling, takes a pinlock, central release makes flipping front far easier, the helmet fits me better. It is also very easy to install an autocom if you need to as the lid has cutouts in place for speakers

It does not have the sound insulation qualities of the C2 but the extra wind skirt things that come with it help.

SO to sum up although the C2 has some good design ideas, particularly the flip down visor I personally prefer the Multitech

I have the C3 which i brought at the motorcycle show in December. Tried on a lot of helmets and the C3 fitted better than the other flips. This should be your primary consideration to make sure the make/model fit's you before choosing brand.

The C3 has a central release at the front and a pinlock visor. The removable lining is lush and the built in tinted visor is great in these sunny winter days.

At the NEC, those nice guys at Autocom fitted their headset which i've since had to replace (New F800GS has 7 pin connector - ZZ-R has older 5 pin connector). No modifications were required to install the headset and it's easy to replace. The lining has 'poppers' which makes it easy to pop-off route the wires and pop back in.

I'm very happy with the C3 - my previous helmet was a full face AGV and i think the C3's quieter...

After thought: They had not release the SHARP test information on 'system' helmets, but have now. I found it odd that the 5* Carberg had a 90% effectiveness raiting for the flip locking system... Isn't this a significant issue?

if i do go for the shuberth then it most likely will be the C3, however i think i shall have to try and see both lids side by side as the shuberth is a good £100 dearer than the multitech

build quality on both seems very good, the multitech has a plus with the pinlock,but the shuberth has a plus with the tilt dark visor,choices choices

Do you have any issues with the visor of your C3 automatically closing (well, slaming shut) from the fully opn position to closed at speeds over 30-35 mph?? Unfortunately my C3 has said annoying feature:-

hi have used both from new and found the flip front on the c2 to be very clumsy to use and did not close properly every time so you had to kinda sqint at the indicater markers at the sides

multithec feels like a much more refined helmet imho
