Side Panel Airbrake

The LHS side panel on my bike decided to detach itself at the front yesterday, doing a good impression of an airbrake at 90 mph. There was a gusty cross wind at the time and I can only guess that this pushed it off the crappy plastic lower fitting.

The side panel is badly cracked now - silver colour panel from the blue / silver paint scheme. If anyone has a side panel they don't need, please let me know.

Same thing happened to me - managed to get it replaced under warranty as the "quick release" clip was perhaps a bit too quick.

I now have a "slow release" bolt at the front

Happened to me too.

Mine was replaced under warranty and the quick release fixings are changed to torx bolts.

I replaced my oe fixings with Dzus fasteners, you know where you are with them.

Me too, this happened to me at 80mph!
I removed the 'too quick release' clips and fitted Dzus also.

Changed the bolts on mine before either of the panels came off. Thanks to Mr Demongroover for supplying the Dzus bolts.

Common problem. Damaged parts replaced free when mine did it and eventually BMW changed the fitting, getting rid of the stupid rubber nuts.

Same thing happened to me, frightening stuff at 80. Anyway i do have a grey LHS panel that came off mine and i replaced it with black ones.Give me a message and we can chat. Dunk
