been to dealers today, they were as good as gold, had the parts ordered before he even looked at the bike.
One of the techs had an 07 in the workshop with the new fasteners on. They didn't come up on the parts computer, even with the new bikes chassis no, but they're going to track them down for me, i'll try and post a part no when they turn up.

I wonder how many BMW car owners would be happy to cable-tie bits of their vehicle's bodywork together in order to feel certain that they wouldn't fly off...

Since you mention it, SWMBO's car is a BWM 3 series (BTW, apparently there are more 3 series around that Ford MOndeos ...!) and some of the bodywork isn't that impressive. Needs "re-adjusting" every so often!

But I take your point. It's not as if it is a cheap bike...:(

... Mine RHS side panel 'blew' last summer at (allegedly) ban +5MPH*, M40 near Bicester. Bikes may be designed for such incidents ... underpants are not! :D

... I played merry hell with BWM because I had simply not touched the damn thing. The original twist-lock fastener is shite, if BWM have changed it subsequently it speaks volumes, that they have not done a recall for it speaks further volumes. However ...

... My dealer, the esteemed NOG, replaced the stock fixing with a Torx (27?) steel bolt and a 'threaded' clip, similar to the beak fastening. Dead simple, dead reliable and I have no further fears for my underpants.

... I suspect I am not the only one with a speedo that switches to KPH under certain conditions :augie

You know, this would make a great "Watchdog" issue, hot on the heels of the Renault Clio bonnet affair...
We might all get the upgraded fasters/side panels free, gratis and for nothing :bounce1
