Hi all
It seems that my bike is slowly leaning further and further over as time goes by , at first i put it down to having the suspension set hard and making the bikes stance a bit taller...but it now seems the stand is getting closer to the centre stand when in the up position....anyone else had this problem?

Yes, but on the F800GS, not the 1200... :blast

...however the way the 800's sidestand is arranged, it's now further away from the centre stand than a newer model.

could it be wear on the bolt it swivels on which means you will get vertical movement with the stand extended that will cause the bike to have a greater lean angle

Not the case on mine, the amount of wear on the bolt is negligible and the range of free movement is comparable to a new bike.
I had the issue with the 800 but the problem was fixed under warranty
:blast Left it too long. Now on extended warranty which doesn't cover it.

What to do about it.

Find length of water piping around 2 metres long which will slip over stand.
Go to garden. lay bike down on right hand side. Extend sidestand, slip pipe over it & bend a few times till it is back where it should be.

Afterwards, when on sidestand, & getting onto bike using footrests, do so from right hand side instead of left hand side.

It worked for me!

Not really something applicable to the 800, although I appreciate that I'm the intruder in this thread - its sidestand is attached to a cast bracket, which I'd be wary of snapping off if I tried this.

I appreciate that the 1200's stand will be attached in a different way, but even if it's a steel bracket, I'd watch for that bending if you follow Myke's method.

Feel free to tell me to bu99er off... :D

It isn't possible!

It isn't possible to be an intruder, or maybe I am just thick skinned!
