My 2004 GSA has now dropped off its side stand for one too many times. I can't imagine it's only mine that does this, PLEASE tell me the fix, I have been right through the forums, and know about hills cambers and ice hockey..... Does anybody actually manufacture a longer side stand ?

It raises the bike quite a bit, but the bottom plate can be drilled and an additional foot fitted below. As standard it makes the sidestand the equivalent to 10mm longer.
There are two side stand lengths for the R1150GS. The standard GS has a shorter one, and the Adventure because of it's longer suspension has the long stand.
I wander if somewhere in it's history it hasn't had the shorter stand fitted as an incorrect replacement.
If your bike has a huge lean, and this is the reason for it falling over, then you can fit a puck to the foot of the stand to help reduce the lean.

I also have a 2004 and have been meaning to make a thicker foot got my sidestand - just have never done it.
If ya want, I'll make an extra one for you while I'm at it. I'm just going to mill one out of some aluminum stock that I have at my shop. haven't really settled on a thickness yet, but probably make it out of some .750" (19mm) thick aluminum. I'm sure I also have some 1.00" (25 mm) thick stock if you think you need that much.

I cut mine in half and inserted some solid bar to extend it then re welded it. Make sure you make the cut below the lug for the spring and make sure it clears the centre stand when its in the up position.
I'd be interested, if it fits ok when retracted against the collector box
I've got a 25mm thick foot added to mine, and it's spot on now. I don't know whether it'll clear the collector box as I don't have one, I've got a Y piece and Remus fitted. What I do remember is when I had one fitted to my old, standard 850GS I had to take the edge off the foot extender to stop it fouling the collector.

Been thinking about this too on my GS, I thought the excessive lean was partly due to the free play that appeared be to wear in the pivot but wasn't, might make up something too as was going to make a larger foot anyway.
Ditto that. You want a length of 15mm bar I seem to remember. I cut mine about an inch above the foot. The bar is a perfect pressure fit, no welding for mine. You need to be careful how much you extend as it fouls on the centre stand when up if you go too long. Works a treat though

I made my stand from 2. I snapped my GSA one changing a tyre so bought a cheap normal GS one from ebay then cut and shut the two with a piece of 15mm steel bar - easy peasy
