Just stripped the side stand off my 1150 as it seems to lean over too much due to play in the pivot. The pivot bolt is not worn as the thread section is all the same diameter, but there is a lot of play inside the small bush, is this normal as the bush appears to be surface hardened inside????

I recently had similar thoughts about my 1150 side stand, so replaced the bolt and bush which made no difference whatsoever .....

Thanks very much Phil, I will re-grease, put back together and live with the slanty lean

i had the same play in my 03 adv and found if you make a shim (washer) with a thickness of 0.8mm id 17mm and a 0d of 25mm it will fit in in the gap between the stand and braket and it should remove most of the play you have got

Sounds good to me, :clap I was thinking of turning a new bush that is just a tad better fit, but your solution is much easier, thanks :thumb

The problem is not the diametral clearance between the pivot and bore but the excess end float between side stand fork end and the frame mounting.
As said, shim the stand to frame and there you go.
