Lowering ya bike does need at least the side stand doing! Then you`ve gotta find one or chop it down........
I lowered mine by 20mm, thinking that I’d get away with it……..
Nope, the bike sits up too vertical for comfort on the side stand. The extra effort for the main stand (for 20mm drop) is do-able but I had to do something for the side stand.
Had some good support and suggestions off the forum but the ‘quick’ answer (“buy a short one you tight git”
) turned out to be fruitless as Motorworks (and similar fine suppliers of well priced gear) laughed at me down the phone quoting “poo & rocking horses”. My dealer quoted a kidney and god knows when they would get one in.
Luckily I’ve the privilege of having a manufacturing company at my disposal (sometimes I wish I didn’t!) so I cut off what I think I needed to cut off and got Shaun, our resident welder, to weld a similar plate on the bottom.
And voila! Perfect! I suppose I could get it all powder coated or just attack it with a rattle can - either way problem solved in very little time!
Moral of the story - even with a 20mm drop you need a bit chopping off! And don`t forget to either take the stand off (I know, I didn`t) or disconnect the battery!
Hope this helps anyone!
