Hi all im looking for a bit of info regarding the side stand switch, currently my bike wont start pressing the starter button produces nothing no noise nothing. (kill switch is off and bike shows netural)

So ive started a bit of a diagnosis trail, iginition switch is good, starter relay is good, (although checking at the pins i thought i woud see 12v at pin 85 when starter button pressed but I see nothing, pin 30 is live all the time which i think is correct).

So tank off and looking at the side stand switch I have 3 wires from the switch that i think the common is to the Motronic Relay, one switch contact is then to bike earth and the other contact is to bike starter relay. With the side stand up i have a connection between the Motronic relay and the bike earth on putting the side stand down I have no connection to anything, when i thought i should have a connection to the starter relay. Does anyone know if my assumptions are correct and is this a duff switch that will be stopping the bike starting.

Also these assumptions are based on the wiring diag from haynes and cable colour coding, sort of common sense however says that the side stand down would connect the Motronic to bike earth and side stand up connect Motronic to starter relay, or have I got that bit wrong any fonts of knowledge or thoughts would be appreciated. :thumby:

From that PDF looks like the switch is working in that the brown and white wires are shorted when the stand is up........So i need to look else where i think to find my problem ? I have run a + lead to the starter solenoid and that spins although didn't hear the engine turn over just the starter spinning. I think this is going to be one of those frustrating ones...lol. Ain't they all.

Starter motor turning but not the engine? I'd take a look at the starter. Bendix not throwing to engage with the ring gear maybe. These starters are known for getting gummed-up and also magnets coming loose from starter casing. Easy job to remove and easy to remove the casing to inspect.
If you have to go further and dismantle you'll find detailed instructions somewhere on UKGSer.
