just got back from my first trip when loaded i have problems geting of the
bike due to the side stand being spring loaded also leans over to far
does anybody do a mod.

I hav.nt a pic but I bolted a 1" thick piece of poly/ plastic stuff on the end of the standard sidestand. lifts the bike a bit and id a chesp option. Still cant set it when sitting on the bike though.

NN do a side stand extender, which reduces the lean a bit.

Works for me!

:thumb2

Looks like a coat-hanger though...

Overland Solutions... could do with being cheaper though:(

These are great :thumb2 Except you will ideally need to get the frame re-coated, which is a really big job :(

I don't think the lean angle is the problem, more the fact that you need to have an inside leg measurement of at least 36" just to push the stand down.

It doesn't take a lot of work to fit a S/h side stand switch and wire it into into the neutral switch line.

At least it stops you starting the bike with the stand down.Cant be too safe.

Anyone know why the monolever stand on Motorworks site says - not for G/S, or has anyone made one fit a G/S.

I made my own stand for my GS , but I no longer have access to a lathe or a welder , or as much free time, and the Shurefoot with the adjustable end looks the goods if it can be made to fit.

I was thinking of doing this to Jill's 100, when I eventually get around to sorting a Sure foot style stand.:augie
In the mean time I got a mate to weld an extension arm on the OE stand so she can reach it. I works, but isn't ideal.

The Sure foot shown is for the R/RT's so isn't long enough for the g/s & GS's. It seems too that they no longer make the GS version :nenau

I'm SURE this will work

Just got this reply from Moto-bins, on enquiering if they could supply the Surefoot to fit the GS.

[Hello

Sorry surefoot is not available for this model.

You'd think, that being the currently most popular on the beamers they would still make them. Or did that go out of business years ago and these are what's left of their stock? :nenau

Val, I'm curious, when you had this extension arm welded on.

1) Did you remove the stand from the bike?

2) Or did you disconnect the battery, and any other major leccy bits.

3) None, just welded in situation, without any adverse affects.

Given that it is adjustable , as shown if the pic it might fit, but if not it wouldnt be that much trouble to get a longer bit threaded rod and reweld the base plate to it.

Might give it a go.

The G/s footpegs are in a different position meaning you cannot change gear with the mono surefoot fitted. I've got a Mono Surefoot in the garage that I tried to fit on my old G/s

We removed the side stand from the bike before welding. It was quite difficult to get it off without entirely removing the crash bar, which necessitates removing the long front engine mount bolt.

All the bending and shaping was done with the stand in place. But instead of directly copying Trippies, we used a single thicker piece of bar which so far '3-4000mls' has proved it's worth. Though Jill still struggles to reach it sometimes. Something else I'll have to look at during the next few weeks/months :augie

As Rob says it won't fit the GS :(

I wonder if you might be able to make a Surefoot fit by moving the 'U' shaped bit that locates it on the frame to where the mounting hole is and the hole forward to where the frame locator was.............if that makes sense to anyone! The stand is then moved back away from the gear linkage.

Arkright, when I had access to a lathe and welding gear and a bit more free time I made a stand for my R100GS and it is as you discribe , with the hole at the left end of the mounting bar , and the other end tucked up into the back of the footrest.

The stand is mounted as far back towards the footrest as possible , but I still needed to , err, modify the gear change to get my size twelves under it.

From Robs comments it looks like modifying a Surefoot wouldn't be much less work than making another special - I have seen adjustable bolt on dirt bike stands for GBP 25- and the links here give a pretty good idea of the shape the mounting plate has to be.
