I`ve looked through the forum, and R100GS side stands don`t seem to be the best feature of the bike.
If well loaded, mine can actually pivot over on the stand. This just adds insult to injury after going through the gymnastics of getting the thing down in the first place.
I see Boxxerparts offer a stainless one for 199.00 euros, but until the euro collapses (Go Greece) I`m wondering if anyone has any other suggestions?

Ta, Martin.

Choice of a lucky number of owners (supply is limited to batches of 10 when he has time to make them) is the Mig-Stand from Migsel of this parish.

Details of the current batch can be found here.

Excellent stands, but 200 Euros is a bit much. A Surefoot can be reasonably simply modified to fit though!

Sidestands

I got one from Ernie at Overland Solutions. Built to last with a big foot to stop that sinking feeling! Only downside is he needs the bike to weld the lug on your frame.

With some scrap off cuts an angle grinder vice work bench, if you can't weld take the bits to someone that can when you've cut the metal up.
Does not have to be a sure foot stand, have a look on flea bay, or work with the stock GS stand or maybe a RS.
Search the net for pic’s of GS and zoom onto the stands for inspiration :thumb
Next time I would maybe just weld direct to the frame and not bother with the drilled mounting plate that I welded the side stand mount too:nenau
Do a search here as I think some of the guys have had that done.

I had mine welded on locally. Must be in the right place though or it will look like a Harley:augie

Thanks All. The fabrication way seems a pretty good option. There shoud still be just about enough industry left in Birmingham if I`m quick !!!!

Arkwright, I take it you have altered one - looking at Motorworks site there are two which fit to the gearbox bolt - which one did you use?

One for the R80 RT that I'm Cafe Racering..............going to have to get another now!................. Sherlocks!..................

The Migsel stand is 200 euros well spent :thumb2

Got one earlier this year & it is a first class bit of engineering.
well impressed, I am :D

I`ve got a mate down in Wales. He`s dead handy at this sort of thing, so I may look at modifying the original stand.
Do you think the self retracting feature of the original is best kept? I`m pretty sure that at some stage I`d leave something hanging that should`nt be!!!

It doesnt take much to fit a side stand switch switch into the neutral switch line which swill at least prevent you starting the engine with the stand down - anyJap wrecker will have a box full for a few quid each.

vern modified my self retracting feature and i've never looked back!!!(i do look down however several times after pulling off, just to make sure it's in!!):)
