Stahlkoffer has just finished prototyping a side-stand extender for the BMW R1200GS /(ADV).
Having just purchased a BMW 1200 myself the bike seemed to "lean over" too far when on the side stand. So our base is made from 10mm thick mild steel (powder coated black) which means the bike does not now lean over too far when on the sidestand. And the top is made from stainless steel with the "GS" logo laser cut into it. The finished product (when fitted) really enhances the look of your bike!
Our side-stand extender comes with all nuts and washers as well as fitting instructions.
What about the cost? Well our special price is just £21:00 and this includes postage and VAT! Pictures available shortly (when I have mastered how to transfer them from my I-phone).

10mm mild steel? A nice lightweight item then , and one that will no doubt look hideous (rust) once the powder coating gets chipped.

We have done a fair bit of testing and whilst the product may not be lightweight it does not appear to be too heavy AND it solves the problem of the excessive "lean". As yet the powder coating shows no sign of chipping.

Over what period of time has the item been tested and on what surfaces?
Is it powder coated on the underside?

You only have to look at BMW with their own pre-release testing mileage of the 1200WC to know that when things get real results are often very different to tests.

Any material of substantial thickness will correct an excessive lean angle.

Obviously the side-stand extender has been coated on the underside. It has been tested on concrete, gravel and paving slabs. All with positive results.
And we are happy with the finish. I do, however, agree with you about the results of the 1200WC!
