Earlier this week I stripped out the sidestand on my bike to rub it down and repaint it after the rigours of last years salty roads - before this year's begins. As I loosened the bolt, something went twang and I heard something hit the floor. I now realise it must have been some kind of circlip that holds the electrical switch onto the end of the pivot pin? Now, after a couple of days on searching, and with the sidestand freshly painted and looking good, it is time to refit, but I have not been able to find the missing circlip. Part of this of course is that I don't really know what I'm actually looking for - but I have swept the area and turned up nothing anyway.

So the question is; what am I looking for? And where can I buy a new one without having to buy a new centrestand switch?

Its a very tiny circlip.

just take the bolt to halfords and check there circlips or a local motorfactors

It's a threaded bolt with a circlip groove to hold the retaining washer in place the switchpack floats on the bolt lol

s you will need a washer and circlip

Thanks to both for the answer I was looking for! I am encouraged to find that there is a Motorworks part number - because it suggests that I am not the first to have done this!

Thanks again chaps!
