Greetings,

I've just got my pair of Sidi Adventure boots through the post from the Two-Wheel Centre in Mansfield (incidentally, very good service) - they look the business and are very comfortable.... The blurb claims that they're pretty water-tight, with a Gortex lining.

Just wondered if anyone had any experience with these boots in the wet, i.e. are they as advertised - keeping your feet dry?

If this bloody weather ever warms up enough to clear the ice I'll be heading out to test 'em properly - will report my +/- findings.

Since these are only just on the market, I suspect that you have as much experience as anyone else with them.

If they don't keep your feet dry, send them back under the terms of the Gore-Tex 5 Year Keep You Dry Guarantee.

They look exactly like my Flex Force boot, with a cleated sole - plus the goretex liner. Which would make them the PERFECT boot (IMHO).

Love my flex force, and although they've ben waterproof so far, I would like that liner in there. Biggest plus though is the sole - on the FF there's no tread!

Not exactly - Flexforce are taller with a four buckle closure. I know have a pair of Flexforce SRS.

@dave ett I think you're pretty close with that price.

I recently bought a pair of Sidi couriers, they're almost identical to these but without all the exterior bracing, 3 clips instead of 2 and the sole doesn't have an arch.

So far they've been water proof-ish, on m recent the looooooooong ride north in all the snow by the end of it I only had very slightly damp toes, probably due to sweaty feet :-/

General rule of thumb is, if it's got a gusset it's waterproof, be careful though this only applies to boots

I'd been wearing Sidi Courier's for the last 4 years, and although OK in a light shower, they we're anything but water-proof in heavy rain - so if it was p*ssing down I'd always revert to my trusty Dunlop wellies

Hence my choice of the new Adventure boots - hopefully they'll prove to be the good all weather footwear I'm after

Look closely at the lower buckle on the Courier boot (on the right), and you can just make out two small stainless nut & bolts that I used to fix the plastic strap when it broke - the only problem I had with them in 4 years.....

I have to say that the library picture at the top of the post does these boots no favours, I thought they looked a bit 'blingey'

However in the photo showing them next to the Sidi courier boot they look very smart

Another benefit is that the new Adventure doesn't have the metal toe-protector that the Courier does, again on the right:

Which your mum will appreciate next time you pop round for a coffee, as you won't scratch the kitchen floor anymore

However, not so good for kicking cars, when you've become embroiled in a little road-rage

Me too! I'm just a little too short for flat feet and slidy toes are interesting!

As a long time sidi wearer but short time GSA rider they do look really nice. May have to look into a pair when my Vertebra gore tex wear out, (of which there is no sign of happening any time soon!).

Nothing specific, i.e. no toe-cap as such, but they're still pretty tough in that area

Seem to offer similar 'toe protection' as the HG Rallye II boots that I currently use, in other words, just a 'hard' to cap ...

... which is tougher than it seems, as I fairly recently had a car roll over and then stop on my left foot ... I was stopped in heavy traffic and the fool was inching forward, trying to cut in. He couldn't believe it when I gestured (POLITELY!) to him to roll down the window and look at his front right wheel! I must admit that I hardly felt a thing and both foot and boot were none the worse for the little incident!

I think they're tougher than they look.

They certainly do seem to break-in pretty easily, but offer allot more support in the ankle area that the Courier's did.

As for making me look hard, I'm going to ask Sidi if they can make me a complete 1-piece suit in a similar style - so I look like a black Storm Trooper (that's not a racist comment, is it?)

I haven't tested them in the wet yet, as I can't be ars*d to clean the 'bike this side of the New Year - I'm in lazy "go to the 'pub instead" mode at the moment

Very practical. A few of the reprobates on here have done this, and in August I rode to Tipperary and back.

Look for a ride report about the Turkey Trot, which should give plenty of info. There'll be a few other ride reports along the same lines as well.
