Top looking bit of kit,but are they waterproof? You know,3-4 hours in the rain kind of waterproof.

Don't think so.
Get yourself down to Hein Gericke and buy their "Toureg" boots. £135 for a good quality, sturdy and waterproof (goretex) boot. I've only had mine a short while, but I'm a fan already.

Couriers

I've had mine a couple of months.

Worst run I did was Bradford - London, rain all the way.. My feet were slighly damp at the end but not uncomfortable or cold.

And the best bit? They look dead 'ard.

I have had my couriers since last September.
I used then over the Pyrenees a couple of weeks ago, when the weather was Sh1t.
No wet feet.
The only problem I have had, is that they are quite stiff & give me very little feeling of the gear lever.

I used mine for two years of tough trail riding and for the first year were totally waterproof.
They are now 'relegated' to my road boot for the GS and when treated with Nickwax are waterproof and as comfy as a pair of slippers.
They are stiff when new but wear them all the time and they will soon soften up.

Top kit

Had mine just 3 years. Never leaked except for me tucking my leathers inside then getting caught in a downpour on the M1. Didn't have chance to stop and cover up, I was soaked before I got chance to stop. On the second pair of soles, decided to go for commando soles @ £25. As Tim says they are a little stiff when new but soften up well.

I wouldnt say their waterproof, more shower proof type thing but then again up here in Pictland it always seems to be raining so they are constantly soaked.I use them waterproof socks with my boots which are 100% waterproof in my experiance.I didnt have a problem breaking them in but Im used to crosserboots even when I used to ride race bikes.Dont know much about the gericke boots but good reports so far.

Yes, they are waterproof. They have a breathable/waterproof inner lining and a gusset. I've ridden with them on through fords and rivers many times and had them completely submerged. They will inevitably get wet inside if you tuck leathers or whatever inside as that will allow water to soak down into the boot. Wearing a Savannah soot with goretex inserts over the boot tops I have NEVER got wet feet. No goretex/sympatex/wotevertex lined boots of any desription are 100% infallible because of manufacturing requirements (stitching etc).

Also, goretex type stuff is not a miracle material: it will not stop your feet sweating. If your feet are hot and you stand with your boots in water, your feet will very quickly be wet with sweat (not water leaking into your boot) - the water vapaur cannot pass out of the boot and evaporate because outside the boot is already 100% humidity. Many people confuse this sweat effect inside goretex clothing as a leak in the clothing (especially round the crotch of goretex-lined trousers). It's not a leak, it's your own water wapour condensing on the inside of the garment.

Triple T:
Buy with confidence. They are definitely 3-4 hours in the rain dry (caveats above noted). They are also, as you say, great looking boots, very very comfortable for me at least, and extremely hard wearing. I also find that the stiffness/clumpiness helps with good positive gear changes on the GS. Now when I ride occasionally with race boots I feel like there's nothing on my feet and I have to be much firmer changing gear.

My Sidis are going to need re-soling. Where did you get yours done?

Cobblers Simon

Sorry, I was refering to my local shoe repairer. Just ask any cobbler for a set of Vibram Commando soles. £25 fitted and balanced.
