Sidi Discovery Tepor?

Sidi Discovery Boots

I've had these boots for two years and can say they are very good boots. They are waterproof, although I regularly treat the outside leather, but the inner lining does the job as well. They are very durable, but somewhat heavy. They are a well constructed boot. Tendency to get a little warm in hot weather.

Also, I took off the metal toe guard on the front, as they have a tendency to tear up interior floors, something the better half did not appreciate.

Good luck.

What about Sidi Flex Force? I read that it has much better protection but maybe too much offroad oriented compared to Discos?

Are they waterproof and breathable?
No idea. I haven't used them. Came across them during my research.
I am actually trying to decide which boots to buy. I consider following ones at the moment:

Sidi Discovery
Sidi Flex Force
Oxtar Infinity (Hein Gericke Rallye or BMW Savanna- same boots with small differences in quality but big differences in price, guess which one is most expensive)
Alpinestars Vector

I drive 70% offroad 30% road.

Any suggestions?

For that sort of usage I'd get the Sidi Flexforce. I have the Flexforce SRS which are made from Lorica with the plastic exo-skeleton. They don't have a waterproof membrane but so long as you have waterproof trousers over the top of them they get a bit damp inside at the most.

They do take some breaking in. I thought at first that I wouldn't be able to ride in them. I tried breaking them in by walking the dog in them and it made no difference. The answer was just to ride in them. They loosened up even more after I got them soaked both inside and out and then treated them with aqueous Nikwax.

You need to adapt your riding style a bit. Changing down involves moving your whole foot on the peg, rather than just a flick of the ankle. However, I'm now so used to them that I wear them almost every time I ride the GS, even on the race track and I've also managed to ride a Rockster in them.

Daytona Roadstar GTX, Gortex liner and look extremely comfy. expensive at £225 but are excellent quality and from what I've been told last a lifetime. Trouble is, they look at bit 'old blokie', but they do the trick. I guess if you wear your trousers over your boots like I do, then you can't really see them!
