Hi all, first post here after recently getting my hands on a 2018 GSA Rallye. Just washed the bike after first couple of hundred fantastic miles. I've discovered some movement / slack at the end can bracket allowing the akrapovic hp silencer to float about. I can feel this movement through the pegs on the road.

Thought a simple nip up of the bolt would solve it, but found it to be properly tight! Loosened off, cleaned threads and tried again, exactly the same. Tried inserting a metal washer, exactly the same.

So, is this movement normal on the GSA (assume no, but I may be going mad!?). Can the rubber mounts wear and allow play to develop?

I've attached the BMW exploded diagram from the parts list. It's assembly numbers 9, 10, 6, 12 & 11. All seems to be present to me. Any help really appreciated!

Cheers,
James

Check that the ends of the clamp aren't tight together before it's tight round the pipe. You may need a smaller clamp.

Hi Baked Bean, thanks for the reply mate. The Akrapovic end can has the bracket welded onto the can, rather than a clamp (photo attached). The mounting assembly looks to be the same as the standard can apart from the clamp though. No idea if the rubber mounts are meant to be thicker on the akra can mount to take up the slack that the clamp would've filled. As it's new to me I've no idea how long the cans been on there like this.

For anyone with the same issue;
Found sight play at connection between manifold and silencer. Looks like it has been this way for a while and movement at the silencer bracket had mullered the thread on the through bolt (preventing tightening up). Luckily captive nut threads in sub frame were ok.
Solved by installing new through bolt that happened to be in the garage, and tightening up clamp on connection another half a turn.
Frustrating this wasn't picked up by BMW during major service, but these things happen I guess!
