silicon paste or copper slip

Im getting conflicting advice in regard to lubrication on the caliper pin sliders..
Some say use silicon paste whilst others say silicon will melt with all the heat so use copper slip.
I always thought that copper slip was slightly abrasive so not to use it on the sliding pins.
Is there any grease/lubrication that is specifically made for this type of application?
Im of the old school, Buy the right stuff and it will take care of it's self.

dont use copper gease, it dries out and can cause the pins to stick.

i always found lith-moly grease to work well.

Copper grease does speed up wear on the pins. Use high temp grease or something designed for the job.

The corrosion Block stuff looks good but no details about it being used in this high temperature situation, their spec says "Auto-ignition Temp. >210C°/410 F°" I would hope it was much greater that 210 degrees.

and there's me thinking I had better get out to the garage on Saturday and clean the copper grease off the pins on both bikes .....and luckily I have now stopped thinking about it.

i had to batter the pins out of a Guzzi caliper with a hammer and a punch.
Replaced pins with stainless ones and a smear of copperslip.
Never had a problem since.
i'll risk the 2 microns of wear.

it can be purchased in small tubes (tooth paste size)from boiler/gas spares factors as its used to grease gas cocks (valves). usually about 3 to 4 % moly
rather than moly paste (st1100 shaft drive splines) 80% moly and upwards.

What you need is a pack of Kerry Gold...altogether higher quality all round.

Can you tell me where to get 80% moly paste from? I can usually only find 60% i.e HondaMoly 60 for doing the K1100 splines.

According to the Service Manager at the local franchise (a member here so I'm sure he will be along soon to correct me!) Copaslip is a good anti-sieze product but under very heavy continuous braking and ambient conditions the lithium grease can evaporate leaving a paste of copper flakes. Hydraulic pressure will force the pads over this buildup on the pins but they are unable to retract so easily, leading to sudden increased wear of the pads
